Still, seems all too elaborate for Kousaka to rank right when he was about to die. To speak in double entendre, Deus Ex Machina got involved heavily in Kousaka leveling up to diary holder right when he was going to check out.

I always hate it when people think that just because a character is named Deus Ex Machina that justifies any actual Deus Ex Machinas in the series itself.

I don't think it justifies having one, but we've seen so many from the this series that a Deus Ex Machina is pretty much to be expected. It's legitimately surprising when there's a solution to something and it ISN'T one.

No it doesn't. But to be fair, it wasn't a Deus Ex Machina either. The end of the episode (not the Murumuru skit) gave a brief hint on why Kousaka had a diary. No, that does not change the fact that it was still kind of half-assed (how could they not see the vent?), but at least the episode addressed the grievance that Kousaka's diary is crap and makes him nothing in the eyes of Yuno (and me).

A story shouldn't just give people what they want, but also what they didn't know they wanted.

So hey, where's this week's episode? It usually comes out today. Or did the fansubbers get caught up in that whole megaupload fiasco?

It came out, like, right after you posted.

In further news, 15 episodes and Yuno's character development has consisted of going from a **noel**head to an even bigger **noel**head. Hurray?

Props to the OP focusing 9 out of 10 scenes on characters that are already dead. :smileyvery-happy:

lol at the new ED. Song was okay. Dramatic images of Yuno being sad does nothing but make me happy. Probably not the emotion they were going for. :smileyvery-happy:

Episode 15 was, like last time, surprisingly decent. Don't think much can ultimately save the show, but at least it had a couple moments that were neat, and they're finally putting some attempt at strategy.

Oh wow, I like the new OP and ED songs. I really need to get those. Also, I lol'd hard at Twelfth in the ED. :smileyvery-happy: I need to get a .gif of that.

The appearance of the Sevenths was really something. I didn't think it was possible for two people to share similar diary powers like that. Very interesting. Yuno is just batsh*t crazy isn't she? I'm pretty sure she'll do anything to get Yukiteru to love her again. (She really needs to get laid.) And Yuki proves to be more worthless and weak. Maybe Ninth could straighten him out.

Ok, at this point the question needs to be asked. Who's more pathetic, Yukiteru Amano or Shinji Ikari?

I would actually venture to say that Yukiteru is more patehic. By this point in the series, Shinji had already gone into battle a couple times and come up victorious. All while defending his friends and trying not to depend on them. Yukiteru on the other hand, has done nothing by cry like a wuss, depend on Yuno, and I think he even pee'd his pants once. So yeah, for once, Shinji is not the pathetic one.

Yukki isn't even consistent about protecting anything but himself. Like, when Hinata and Mao were left behind, he goes "But they'll be trapped down there!" or whatever, but forgets about it within seconds in favor of himself.

Right, and Shinji would jump in front of Rei or Asuka to protect them regardless of what happened to him. So, I think we can safely say that we found someone more pathetic than Shinji Ikari.

THOUGHTS ON EPISODE 15

  • It's obvious that Yuno is yandere for Yuki, but if anything, I can guess that Yuki's tsundere for Yuno. How else can I describe it if he tells her to go to hell one episode, and then compliments her on protecting him the next? I'm kinda tsundere for Yuno too.
  • I f*cking enjoy Marco and Ai. I kinda smiled when Marco was all p*ssed at Yuki being beta.
  • Yuki breaking Kousaka's phone and Kousaka then freaking out was hilarious.
  • I'm glad Hinata and Mao survived yet another episode. They're hospitalized, sure, but not to the degree that Yuno was.
  • Eighth is still very strange.
  • Ninth should dress up as a nurse more often.
  • Opening theme is awesome; Ending theme not so much.

Hey I like Yukiteru. Yeah, he can be annoying at times, but it never gets tiring to see him conflicted with depending on Yuno to stay alive while being fully aware that she doesn't have his best interests at heart, as shown when she chained him up last episode. I just love how he's growing more and more insane, even abandoning his friends in order to survive, as someone pointed out. And above all, he isn't BORING. For me, when they're not boring, wimps are great characters, even if they can be annoying (and personally, I don't find him that annoying). If someone asked me if I prepared Yuji Sakai from Shana or Yukiteru, I'd pick the latter in a heartbeat, because watching him survive is just awesome and entertaining.

I notice a bunch of people saying Akise should have been the main. Yeah, why would I want to watch a practically perfect guy with no development be the main character when I can watch Yuki's non-tiring (yes, I know this is debatable) reactions to nearly getting killed (I read the Paradox manga and all I have to say is *snore*)? And the people who say Shu from GC is better than him? If they say one more comparison that starts with the words, "at least", I am going to gag. And I'm going to gag if people say he is better. I've never seen such a borefest of a character. And when you're boring AND annoying, that gets even worse.

Edit: Just noticed you actually put Shu in that character list of "less pathetic" characters. I REALLY hate him, but if you think he's better than Yuki, then continue to do so. Personally, I think Shu needs some better dialogue and something to make me remember him before I can start liking him.

I know I said this before, but Mikado's inclusion in the last arc of the anime was sort of an afterthought as well. He literally had no part in the Yellow Scarves arc in the novels until Celty drove him to the hideout (no shutting down Dollars, no chasing after Anri, not even much page time). And, as you've noticed, it shows.

Yeah, I notice a lot of people seem to be more forgiving of her than Yuki. Probably because she's more entertaining to them than the latter (I always saw it reversed). Me? I think she's overrated.

Personally, I like her because she's so bat**noel** insane. I can't help it. It's like watching a less awesome, but still entertaining, version of the Joker. Or watching the evil stepmother in Cinderella.

Yukki not doing anything to save his friends isn't about character development. It's him being written very inconsistently. He's constantly built up as the moral character, but he really wouldn't have protected anyone in episode 2 nor in episode 15. He hasn't developed, he's been the kind of character that makes a step forward one episode, but goes back the next. There's literally the equivalent of a character with no development because of how inconsistent he is. You might as well make him a static character because all his development has been completely, totally worthless. Also, no, he doesn't grasp that Yuno doesn't have good intentions in mind. He immediately went back to "She really loves me!" crap.

Yuno's been a flat, one-dimensional character for the whole show. It took 12 episodes for them to start presenting depth, but by then they'd burned any hope of getting the sympathy they're scrounging for. Everyone saying "Yukki should just accept Yuno to save himself" are total idiots.

Uh, no he didn't go back to that "Yuno really loves me crap". He went back into the "I can use Yuno's love to help survive" mode, which is a different thing altogether.  But I digress.

And yeah, I forgot to bring this up with my last post. Yes, I can see why people complain about Yuki because he really hasn't ACTUALLY grown in the past fifteen episodes (he's grown more insane, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't see your point). Yes, I know he does suffer the same problem Shu does with his "one step forward, two steps backwards" thing. Why don't I hate Yuki then? Because unlike you, I think the anime knows this. They're fully aware that Yuki is a morally reprehensible wimp and they have a lot of fun with it. They know that while Yuki may think of himself as moral, he's really a guy to be despised. Even Yuki himself is aware that he's just using Yuno because he su*cks, and the anime really plays it up. I never once thought that the anime was building him up as a moral character. To me, it looks more like the anime is building him up into a guy who's TRYING to be a moral character. There's a big difference.

So don't tell me why you and others don't like him. I know. But I (emphasis on "I") think his "one step forward, two steps backwards" is entertaining. What you said about just making Yuki a static character instead of a character with worthless development? They did that in a manga called Mirai Nikki: Paradox where they replaced Yuki with Akise. And it flat out bored me. It was like watching the first Matrix movie instead of watching the much worse, but more entertaining second Matrix movie (apologies to Matrix fans everywhere).

Why do I hate Shu if he suffers the same problems that Yuki does? Bad dialogue mixed with the fact that he's totally inoffensive, no risks are taken, and whatever risks are taken aren't calculated and just create a hated product that the creators don't seem to see the flaws in. And that's just Shu. Guilty Crown isn't much better. :smileywink:

And yes, I know that Yuno's a flat 1-D character. Again the show seems to know that, and has so much fun with it, creating something I'll at least remember. I barely remember any of the characters from the Matrix series. And you do know I share the opinon that anyone who thinks Yuki should depend on Yuno needs their brains checked, right?

A story shouldn't just give people what they want, but also what they didn't know they wanted.
