No, no Yuno's pretty stupid. Her lack of ability to think about anything other than Yuki makes her pretty dumb in and of itself. I mean, Yuki of all people to get obsessed over. You can't deny she's either really stupid, really high, or both.

But yeah, Yuki's dad was better than almost anyone on the show so far.

Stalkers by definition lack the ability to think about anything other than the person who theyre stalking.

Yukis, a bad guy to stalk, but hes the object of her obsession!

Don't forget that the show has hinted that there may be some other reasons why Yuno is obsessed with Yuki. I remember in Episode 3 that Yuki didn't trust Yuno's bullcrack reason for liking him and that she's definitely hiding something else.

Wow, episode 17 was finally an episode that felt legitimately worth watching. Seventh managed to have a decent backstory and there were, for the first time, a couple lines that weren't just lines on a script. Some portions of the episode actually delivered some impact, being something which hasn't happened until now. Not sure how it'll effect my overall score on the series, it spent way too much time being braindead, but if the remaining episodes continue to get better, I'll at least be satisfied with the show.

Also, Yukki's dad went from cool bro to wtfdude pretty quickly. Marco made up for the loss by being badass.

Marco was effing awesome.

Like... i woulda liked it more if:

1. He came to save Ai before the raep

OR

2. He slaughtered EVERYONE in the WOST POSSIBLE WAYS because of what they did.

That aside... next eppie will be good.

From this point on... Yuki will supposedly become a sociopath like Yuno and kill people for no reason, like Yuno.

From what i hear, from this point on, Yuki goes batsh!t crazy.

I don't like how Marco died. Where did the pole come from? It wasn't there when he started digging.

Though, I read that the pole that was impaling him was what he was using to lift the rock manga-wise. Which would have been more awesome than it just randomly appearing like it did in the anime.

Kinda svcks the way the Sevenths went out. I was actually starting to like them a lot more than Yuki and Yuno. But man, what is Yuki gonna do when he finds out his dad killed his mom? He is gonna freaking lose it. He and Yuno might kill his dad together and then screw on the dead body.

It was pretty obvious that people were going to die in this series (hell, the plot's centered around a "last man standing" game), but Yuki's mom's death was still a surprise. I mean, I haven't been so shocked and near-raged at a death since 12th bit it in episode 5... only there's no Production I.G outsourcing to me to fanboy over afterwards (like episode 3), or a hilarious cameo in the new opening theme (like 12th got).

Also, Marco was a badass. May he spend a long time with Ai in whatever afterlife there is in this universe. The last time I've been oddly content with a character death in this series was back when 4th took his own life via breaking his phone.

Also, Yuki's dad's a d*ck and I hope 9th blows him up.

Episode 17, oh man, Father of the Year material right there.

But overall, yeah, this was a good episode. Unfortunately at this point, I just kinda want everyone to die because the characters are all terrible, but whatever.

Also, does anyone by any chance have a .gif of Twelve pelvic thrusting in the new OP? I would love to have those few frames as a gif and possibly use it as an avatar. :smileyvery-happy::smileyvery-happy::smileyvery-happy:

You know, if Yuki goes into a murderous rage, he is either going to off his dad, then himself, or (if Eleventh put Yuki's dad up to this like I think) waste Eleventh in the most brutal way possible. Both instances will shatter Yuno's view of Yuki and she will no longer love him. Then, in the finale, Yuno is going to kill Yuki, then herself, and Ninth who was biding her time, will be the winner. At least that's how I see this playing out.

That's maybe how it should play out, but it'll probably be Yuki for the win, and he brings everyone but Yuno back to life to live happily ever after, and gets his parents back together. :/  In other words, I'm not expecting the ending to be any more creative than the series so far.

If you ever heard about this anime from manga fans...

Spoiler
You'd know that the ending is pretty hated, even by its fans. It's sort of like Bokurano if they went for a happier ending. That's all I'm going to say.

Anyways, they better make Yuki's "dark growing up" flow well, because I have been disappointed in "loser guys" going all dark recently. Especially since that should be awesome by default. Yuki has a bit more of an advantage because he's already a horrible person (in deep denial), but if they turn him into some confident jackass next episode (or the one after that), I will puke.

A story shouldn't just give people what they want, but also what they didn't know they wanted.

Honestly, I think the most a show can do when it just gets good at this point is "tolerable" or "meh". If it was a long-running series, maybe it could become good or awesome (it took 2 seasons for the Simpsons to get good), but for a 26-episode series, it should have been good around Episode 6 (and that's if it passes the three-episode test). I'm in the same situation with Guilty Crown, and that first half just won't leave my mind (the horribleness of it, that is. I can't remember the episodes all that well). Durarara's second half was enough for people who thought the first half was great to hate the show altogether (I assume this is because people think strong endings are more important than strong beginnings, which is partly true). Bottom-line, while you probably won't regret watching, I don't think it should affect an overall score much, especially since we're more than halfway through.

P.S.: And yes, I don't think the Simpsons have been very good as of now either. But when it was in its prime, it was hilarious.

A story shouldn't just give people what they want, but also what they didn't know they wanted.

I really doubt it'll get more than a 7 out of me, even if it progressively gets better. Right now it appears to be on it's stride and I'm actually enjoying watching it, but having taken 17 out of 24 episodes to deliver, it's nor "Great" or "Excellent". Right now, depneding on where it goes (not counting the ending, since I hear all around that the ending is either bad or mediocre, whereas the series as a whole gets lots of praise), it's somewhere between "Average" and "Good". So, between 5-7 out of 10.

Most of the frustration came from blown expectations. The first episode presented itself as a suspense/mystery. You know, figure out who the other diary owners are before they figure out you. It's not really suspense in the "Will he die or not?" kind of way, but the "What now?" kind of way. Like when I started Breaking Bad, the show was just reaching the end of season 4; I know from the start he's not going to die or get caught in the first episode, but the decision making is what makes it suspenseful. That's what I expected here, that's what the first episode portrayed; yes, the case was basic and easily solved, but it got the point of strategies and owners hunting owners down accross. However, the diary owners almost always imediately knew who Number 1 and 2 were, and the only deceit towards them tended to be exposed by the person themselves; notably through over-the-top violence. And the shock value gore runs thin after so many times.

Of course, not being what I expected could be a good thing; sometimes things go beyond expectations by being something totally different. But I felt like this went in the wrong direction for the most part. I think I wanted something a little more serious out of it, especially with the type of deadpan humor not being of my tastes. Deadpan, tongue-in-cheek is fine; this simply wasn't the style of it that would make me smile.

Too bad Marco's gone, though. He was a cool guy.

Edit: Also, the lack of free-for-als has been disappointing, too.

It's not really much of a wonder that the other diary users knew who 1st and 2nd were, because they're the ones who used their diaries so openly due to the fact that they're kids who tend to rely on them way too much. In fact, let's look at how the others knew Yuki was the First:

Third (the serial killer)- discovered it because Yuki used his diary to ace his math test (and it was Yuki and Yuno's defeat of him that caused the others to take an interest in Yuki)

Ninth (Minene)- same reason as Third, as Yuki's test results did spread outside the school

Fourth (that cop)- followed Ninth in order to discover this fact

Twelfth (that super hero masked guy)- actually, he never really knew this

Sixth (the priestess girl)- a combination of Fourth's fault and Ninth's fault

Fifth (the kid)- he found out during the incident with the Sixth

Tenth (Hinata's father)- pure coincidence, as he was chasing Akise at the time, and Yuki happened to spill the beans during that dog chase, causing Hinata and Mao to turn their attention towards him

Seventh (Ai and Marco)- Ai was undercover as a shrine maiden in Tsubaki's mansion and found out during that cult fiasco (watch Episode 5 again and you'll see her trying to treat the Sixth's hand when it got cut off)

Eighth (that big headed woman)- same reason as Seventh and Fifth, although she wasn't actually there. It was one of her apprentices (again, watch Episode 5 and you'll see that one of Eighth's apprentice holders was trying to treat Sixth's hand along with Ai)

Eleventh (the unknown one)- he's obviously a guy in a high enough position to monitor Japan effectively, so there are a number of ways he could have found out

And do I have to explain how Yuno knows?

Bottom-line, Yuki's bad luck and idiocy caused him to get exposed to all the diary holders, which is why he and Yuno are usually the ones fighting the other diary holders. Everyone else was more careful about exposing themselves, so the lack of free-for-alls is understandable. And no, I do not know why Ai didn't attack Yuki and Yuno after they defeated Sixth or anything like that, so don't ask me.

This makes sense.

This doesn't. Fourth using Ninth is coherent, but why in fuuuuuudge would Yuki's test results spread outside the school? Especially if they never bother to mention it? And, of all the intel for Ninth to get, why would she care about middle school test results? SHe'd have to have far more free time on her hands than she does to pick him out like that.

TheFlawGuy wrote:

How and how? Priestess seemed to know from the beginning and we never saw the kid there.

I already knew this, but it should have been executed better.

They would have had an easier time killing Yuki if they didn't expose themselves at all. But none of them effectively hid it. The priestess was the closest anyone's come to hiding anything.
