I have just gotten into Fate/Stay Night and Tsukihime, and I was looking around at the TvTropes section for it, and they talked about things fans of it like to do, like comparing power levels, and the like. But one thing I have wanted to talk about, I am surprised it didn't appear.

Has anybody ever done a survey/thread along the lines of "Which historical/mythological figure would be which type of Servant?"

I have wanted to discuss something like that for a while, but have found no luck finding a thread for it, so I thought "may as well try one here," especially with the recent run of Carnival Phantasm and Fate/Zero.

I would even like to see if anybody thought any historical figure was, in their mind, in the wrong class.

So what do you guys think?

I was thinking that Joan of Arc would be an awesome Saber, then I found out they had that idea with the cancelled Fate/Apocrypha. So, to tell you the truth, for the moment, I'm stumped.

Dude apocrypha isnt cancelled anymore.  In fact its already started!  It's a light novel now!  You can find the scans if you google it. 

I still wanna see Nasu design a caster Merlin.  And maybe see some Egyptian gods, not just greek ones.

I thought of one, finally. Captain Ahab as a Lancer. That would be hilarious.

And really? I'm glad to hear that about Fate/Apocrypha. It sounded at least very interesting.

Yeah, but Jack the Ripper in it has a terrible design.  Which disappointed me greatly.

That would be a funny lancer. haha.  I'm trying to think of a good one now. Hmmmm.  How about to go along with Gilgamesh, a berserker Enkidu!  And a caster Osiris!

According to supplementary materials, this isn't possible. To become a heroic spirit, one must make a large impact in history and be worshipped for it as a hero. Ahab is a fictional character, and thus can't qualify, even if he had done something of that magnitude in Moby Dick.

Plus if any Egyptian Gods do show up they'll be as a Avatar or some mythical person connected because Gods are too overpowered.

I finally thought of a good one.  Infact this is who Saber in fate/extra should have been.  The craziest bi/gay/trans 14 year old to ever live.  Roman emperor ELAGABALUS!!  And of course his/her backstory could be that they just wanted the world to know love no matter what the gender.

Well, I relent on that. He wasn't THAT impactful in historical terms.

And also, canon or not, there are some characters who are fictional who are servants, and they said the person didn't HAVE to be real, just be seen as and worshipped as a hero.

Though, even that depends. They used the term "mythical," not fictional, and whether or not mythology is fictional depends on the setting itself.

I thought Robin Hood would have been an obvious Archer, and then I found that he was also being used in F/A (shocking, an Archer class that is known for using arrows).

Also, since Gilgamesh was being used as a Heroic Spirit, I thought it would be fair to use Beowulf as well, but I couldn't settle on what class he should be.

I think I wanted to use Ajax for Berserker (which is pretty lame, even to me). And...I can think of pretty much no stories that involve people with lances.

Goliath had a spear IIRC.  Of course, he got pwned by a guy with a slingshot, so not so heroic....

Duke Nukem as Berserker would be awesome.

I think any hero can be summoned as Berserker, it just changes their stats around.

Oddly enough, David is actually a Servant in Fate/apocrypha.

And I've already covered the reason why someone like Duke Nukem would never be a Heroic Spirit. In fact, it's actually even more impossible for him; Nasu has said that almost no one from the 20th century on is even capable of becoming one.

EyeOfPain: Both the original VN and F/E seem to indicate otherwise. Lancer notes in the former that he qualifies for Berserker, it's just that he's best suited as Lancer, while Herakles himself qualifies for every class except Caster and Assassin, same with Rani's Servant. It seems that, unless you have the artifact of a specific Servant that qualifies, adding the two extra lines for Mad Enhancement will just get you any random Heroic Spirit that does. I don't have that much info, though, so I could be wrong; I'll have to ask on Beast's Lair.
