Is the manga better than the anime? I watched the anime and wasn't much of a fan. However I have read that a lot of different stuff happens in the manga.

As much as I like Negima, I've been ready for it to end for over a year. As others have mentioned, I wouldn't be surprised at all if after a short break, a sequel series is started that takes place after a time skip.
