I doubting it was supposed to be kid friendly. The amount of blood seems more realistic, not excessively gorey like most anime (go Claymore, Elfen Lied, etc). So maybe they are just going for realism (well with the violence, not with everything) . And there havent been a lot of deaths, but they did show one man get stabbed by a spear, and it was very realistic death, he just sort of slumped and died. Now I would argue they kiddied it up a little with a lack of cursing (the gore is a moot point for above reasons). I mean, you'd think people in battle would curse here and there (though not excessively then it's just like gore, immature on a different level).

Also, the dialogue and the way the series is paced seems to indicate that this series is geared for an older teen  - young adult demographic (16-24). So overall I'd say it might be hard to grasp  for a younger teen or maybe even some older teens (like about 50% of the kids in High School), but that's because it's probably geared for college students.

Episode 6 was good, and it showed that Shaman knows a lot of tricks, and a lot of animals apparently. It also is showing the relationship between Tanda and Balsa; obviously Tanda cares for her a lot more than he cares to let on to most people. I liked it a lot. Good character development.

Clarification on the egg: It seems that the hatching of the water spirit egg will CAUSE a drought. Which is why the shaman asked if she would kill him or protect him. Because if she lets it hatch then it could mean the deaths of many.

During a fight, Balsa was stabbed very awkwardly and there was no blood.  I don't need gore, but I don't want to be reminded of a kung fu movie from the 80s either.  The novels are indeed written for children but have an older audience as well, so they're trying to appeal to the fans of the books.  I just think it could be improved if they were more consistent.

Stabbed awkwardly?  I think that's one instance where it was kiddied up. I'm happy with it, if they put more blood (not that there wasnt a lack of it, just wasnt as much as maybe there would be) I'd just be reminded of some other bloody action anime. And I think this is far from 80s Kung Fu, it reminds me more of Matrix kung fu (not bullet time or anything) than 80s stuff.  Nitpicking is fun?

The novels were indeed Children's books, but I think they got a following like "Through the Looking Glass." Alice in Wonderland was for kids but has adult themes. Similar thing, imo.

On the anime story: I wonder if when the egg hatches it will affect the prince negatively?

Wow, really?  I guess if any show deserves it, this one does, its just so pretty to watch, I can't wait to get it dubbed so that I don't have to read the lines and can focus on the artwork.

Quick question, is this a 25-26 ep series or a 50-52 ep series, cause the plot doesn't seem to be moving at this point

Ya really lol. As far as length this series will be 26 I believe but since this series spans over 10 navels

Seirei no Moribito (Guardian of the Sacred Spirit)

Yami no Moribito (Guardian of Darkness)

Yume no Moribito (Guardian of Dreams)

Kokū no Tabibito (Traveller of the Void)

Kami no Moribito (Guardian of the God)

it's hard to say if there make more series in the future or not.

First 3 episodes kick ass then filler but not the boring kind of filler. Then around 10 episodes later it finally get back to the main plot. Over all tho the art is outstanding and the main plot of the story is very good and well written. On the other hand the fillers do drag down the series in the long run.

I bet you can just TELL.  The fillers were irritating me.  It would have been so much better as a 13 episode series without all of that filler.

This has been a great series. A must have for me.

The earlier episodes kinda bored me a little, but I think the writers where trying to get you adsorb into how the characters act/feel. You dont know how a person is till you have been around them awhile.

Balsa is tried and executed as a criminal.

Chagum and Tanda find comfort in each other's arms.

A sad, yet heartwarming end.

Ugh, typical anime ending.  I was rooting for Tanda x water creature.
