I just read that online the other day, well all I gotta say is that **beast**, and its sad to see another anime getting released by taking the cheap route, of a subtitle only release.
Whats really sad is that few if anyone is going to buy it now, I mean I am against downloading anime but seriously , the people who were looking forward to a dub are not going to go out and buy it now unless they buy it by accident thinking it has an English Dub, and the people who have downloaded the series are not going out to buy it just so they can get a DVD case or box or whatever.
It just really **beast**, you could have had a hugely popular show on your hands domestically but they decided to be cheapskates, wait to drop the ball Aniplex.

And can be unprofitable, and cause the licensor to lose money. Sub-only releases are cheaper, financially safer to release, and quicker than hybrid releases.

Yes. Gintama is a fangirl show. That's not saying that it can't appeal to other audiences, but it is unabashedly a fujoshi show. Probably the best one ever made.
That's the thing. Fangirls buy manga. That's their thing. Their influence on the anime market here in the USA has been minimal. In Japan this is changing because shows like Gintama, Blue Exorcist, Big Windup, Hakuouki, and Tiger and Bunny regularly sell around ~20k copies per volume.

But Gintama is Shonen, and so is Blue Exorcist.

However, Gintama has been dropped here due to poor sales most likely. It's been stopped at 23 volumes when Japan right now is at volume 40.

Personally I think it maybe awhile before we see Blue Exorcist come to be English dubbed but then comes the problem of finding the right voice actors to do the voices. I mean who would you get to do the voices and then comes the problem of not using the same voices over and over. But hey who would you get to the voices of the characters.

Actually, everyone, the Blue Exorcist dub is premiering on NeonAlley this month. Rin is being played by Bryce Papenbrook and Yukio is being played by none other than Johnny Yong Bosch, the voice of Bleach's Ichigo Kurosaki. I for one, believe they SHOULD put this on Adult Swim/Toonami. I don't think it's fair that it is on NeonAlley, which you have to play seven bucks a month to watch the new episodes. But yes, be happy, for it is dubbed ![]()

If they release the dub on dvd, I'll bite. If not, it's nothing I haven't seen already. This is Viz, right? Or would it be Aniplex still? Not holding my breath for the former.

If it were anyone but Viz releasing it I'd take this as a sign that they'd be issuing dubbed DVDs in the future, but since they're still sitting on 59 dubbed episodes of Monster, instead of recouping some of the dubbing expense and pressing a small run of dvds, I'm not very optimistic.
As long as the undubbed boxes are selling, they won't spend a dime putting out dubbed ones, and if they stop selling, Viz will take that as meaning no one wants to buy the series, rather than that people are holding off for the dub.

On dvd? I don't think so. They did a dub for their channel, but they have not released it on dvd yet.
