I have mixed feelings about this. What I was hoping for was Toonami back in its late afternoon, early evening incarnation - in addition to the [as] Action Block, not as a replacement or a rebranding.
Even a Midnight Run version would be fine - if it was on weekdays. Otherwise, it's just putting Tom in the bumps instead of the trash they've been assaulting my eyeballs with recently, which I guess would still be an improvement.
I guess I'll have to wait and see what they're actually doing with it before I rant, but at the moment, I'm not feeling very hopeful. ![]()

Well Since Toonami used to be afternoons, then Evenings.
AS' time block isn't generally what one think when they see 'Toonami'

No all it is, is AS thinking "humm... Whats a way that we dont have to spend money on more new anime, that fails in ratings, but still satisfies the horrible weeaboos online? Oh I know! Lets cash in on nostalgia!"
Its a cheap, and seemingly effective way to kill two birds with one stone.
I mean its nifty and all... but its not worth getting worked up over.
I get it if youre a normal person who does not download anime... but us here, we are horrible weeaboos.
If we feel the need for a nostalgia bomb... we go download Outlaw Star or Tenchi in whole... Without commercials, to watch whenever we want.
So anyone who is well off enough to download, or hell even stream online, really has no reason to go apeshit over this.
It is cool though... just nothing amazing.
... That is unless they get new original content.
Big O season 3 would make me blow up everywhere.
Everywhere.

Something interesting that was linked in the ANN thread was an image for an [AS] bump that showed the minutes of a Acquisition Meeting. The titles being discussed are highlighted in yellow to hide them, but you can easily make out that the two titles are 'Angel Beats' and 'Highschool of the Dead' if you just focus on the small parts of the letters that extend above and below the highlighted region.
Of course, at the end the two titles are dismissed for being unable to 'meet purchasing criteria' but ya never know.

Interesting. I'd like it if it were those two shows myself, but whatever they end up getting I just hope it isn't something I've already purchased like Durarara was, so I don't have a reason not to watch, especially if they're gonna have some other old school stuff on after it.

Adult Swim's Toonami Block to Air Casshern Sins, Deadman Wonderland (Updated)
Well, looks like I got my wish: two shows I don't own. Not only that, but they're two shows I've scarcely even heard about. I saw the first episode of Casshern cuz it was On Demand for free a while back, but I didn't really think much of it. Deadman Wonderland hasn't been released on DVD yet here, so this'll be it's English dub debut it looks like. Anyway, hope they go over well if only for the future of Toonami.

Oh man. If there's a thread for the Casshern premier it's going to be hilarious.
Curious, why don't you think Casshern will do well?
