what was the first episode you saw/remember from Outlaw Star?

basically the impression you had from it

the first full episode I saw was "Cats and Girls and Spaceships", I thought it was pretty cute (still do), but after watching it over again years later, i had never realized how dark that episode is lol

It was probably the first episode, "Outlaw World". I was coming off from watching Cowboy Bebop back in 2001 that I decided to give OS a shot hoping it would match the same grttiy space opera drama that CB had. While it wasn't exactly the same, I did enjoy the rapport between Gene Starwind and Jim Hawking. Plus seeing a naked Melfina in a suitcase for the first time was pretty hot, I'll admit that. >_>

I forget what the episode was called. xD

It was actually the thing that probably got

I saw the show from the beginning way back when. I had seen the promos for it and wanted to give it a shot since it looked good. Needless to say, I was hooked from the onset.

Interestingly enough a friend of mine who I've regrettably lost touch with over the years finally got me to watch it. I was a Toonami addict in the late 90s and early 2000s almost entirely due to DBZ. I remember seeing commercials for Outlaw Star but it never grabbed me enough to actually watch it. One day I was talking about anime with my mentioned friend during my Senior Year of High School and he somehow got onto the topic of Outlaw Star. He owned the complete set and finally I borrowed it from him on a Friday. I remember that Saturday I began my Senior Service Project at a retirement home, which was required at the time for all students but was the first time I actually decided to go and do the community service. I was actually feeling quite nervous about everything honestly and decided to watch the first episode or two an hour or so before I had to go. I remember being shocked by how awesome the opening theme was and the blatant nudity in the first episode. I wasn't the....earliest developer in that sense Seeing Melfina in that case as the first episode ends left me surprised, satisfied, and yet wanting to watch more. After my first 8 hours at that retirement place, 9 to 4ish, I came home and watched some more. I probably finished the series that weekend, but don't remember for sure. I bought the complete series myself not long after and still own it.  All of this was in 2006ish I believe. I remember having enjoyable conversations with my friend afterwards and even how the two of us introduced the series to another friend of ours by showing him the "banned" hot springs episode. I remember him laughing fairly hard as Gene continually struggled to get up that mountain. Good times....I wish I knew Outlaw Star got its own folder sooner as it will probably be done away with soon but oh well...
