This is a discussion thread for EPISODE TWO only (though obviously content from episode 1 is open game), therefore there should be no need to make posts about anything that happens later on. Likewise, this means that everything from episode 2 itself is to be considered a spoiler and off-limits until it appears for the first time at midnight on Adult Swim. There will most certainly be other threads that call for more general series discussion, so I would suggest you take any comments about episodes beyond the second one there.

This series is directed by famed Japanese anime filmmaker Satoshi Kon. If you like what you see here, do yourself a favor and go out and find his films. They are:

The music is produced by Susumu Hirasawa. Those of you who have seen Berserk should be familiar with Mr. Hirasawa's work.
The chief scriptwriter is Seishi Minakami, whose biggest previous career highlight was as a scriptwriter for several episodes of Boogiepop Phantom.
The character designer is Masashi Ando, who was the animation director on Spirited Away and has worked on several Studio Ghibli films as well as Kon's Tokyo Godfathers.
The animation is produced by Madhouse. What else is Madhouse responsible for? Well, some higher profile Madhouse titles include Trigun, Metropolis, Monster, BECK, and all of Satoshi Kon's films. A full listing of Madhouse series can be found here.

Though I do believe "the moon" is Tsukiko Sagi, if I remember right. The first kanji in her first name "Tsukiko" is the kanji for the moon (月 or "tsuki").

Heh, I was going to hold back the heron thing till later (that reference comes later). Though I didn't know the "fraud" thing. That's quite interesting. Maybe Kon playing with our heads again.
I was wondering if that's what the rabbit reference was, because I can't think of a character with rabbit in their name, but then again, I only have the kanji for certain characters, so I've got some big gaps there.
As for the other parts of the Prophetic Vision, I actually have explanations for all of them, but let's wait for the episode to air for those.
