Yes I heard, ![]()
It's a sad day. He was an amazing director too, and so young.

So young.
I loved some of Kon's work and it's definitely sad that the anime community losses out on such a pioneer such as Satoshi Kon. It really makes me wish I had Paranoia Agent on DVD so I could do a marathon of it today in dedication for Kon. However, watching Millenium Actress and Paprika will be a pleasure as well.
R.I.P. Kon. =[

I know...
D*mnit, FUNi/Manga/Sentai/Geneon Rescue companies, relicense Paranoia Agent already as your way of paying respect for Satoshi Kon's death! I would also tell Syfy to reair Perfect Blue, but to be honest, just one airing of it was enough for them.
KIGUMA - Chapter 12 out now. Enjoy!

You beat me to the punchline :L
Anyways, I'm so disappointed. He was one of my favorite people involved in the anime industry, even more so than Nujabes.
This really bums me out.
Does anyone know the cause of death because I only read the animenewsnetwork.com article and it didn't specify and I'm too lazy to find out by checking the links posted.

awwww he was one of my favorite directors if not the favorite of mine. ive seen most if not all his work, and ive enjoyed each thing.paranoia agent too was the thing that got me watchn anime on [as] and had gotten me here in AD too.
btw what did he die from? and i hope they can still release his new movie as a farewell tribute.

I share your pain (as do most of the others here in AD), but anime won't be dead. We still have Miyazaki. And Masaaki Yuasa. Not to mention a couple of other directors that were as great as Kon, but whose names aren't coming to me right now.
Nonetheless, R.I.P. Satoshi Kon. He was a great director. If only [as] still had the rights to PA (or if only Syfy magically gained the rights to it like they did with Requiem from the Darkness)... They'd probably marathon it in his memory.
KIGUMA - Chapter 12 out now. Enjoy!

Comments from some at Madhouse and GAINAX seem to suggest cancer, though there is no official word just yet.

Aww man, this svcks. Anime has lost a great director. Paranoia Agent still has a special place in my fandom, Perfect Blue was quite interesting as well. Paprika was ok. I really should rewatch it.
RIP Kon-Sensei.

His work slightly got me into anime (Case Closed and DBZ being the top things that did). I remember seeing the trailer for his newest film at the time 'Millennium Actress' and wanting to go see it so badly, but not knowing 100% what it was. And when 'Tokyo Godfathers' came out, I rented it the first day. This news is amazingly sad to me. R.I.P. Satoshi Kon

Wouldn't be surprised if it was lung cancer. Kon was a heavy heavy smoker.
If this is true, then it's just one more reason to loathe and despise the tobacco industry IMHO.
