Ghosts of girl friends past, ever see that movie? Me neither, at least not until being compared to its main character, a few evenings ago, over some cheap beer, lasagna, and the wall flower.
I guess, yeah I can kinda see my self as being jaded in the context that marriage isn't for everyone, nor should everyone have to tolerate being the center of a discussion they never willingly engaged In.
Anyway, so the movie is about a guy, that had his heart broken when he was a child, and it turned him into a player, of sorts. The stereotypical rich, white male, that has everything he ever wanted, except love. Yeah, give me a break. The next hour is basically a story of forced retribution that results in a epiphany where he finally marries the girl that broke his heart thirty years ago. The reality is that Its about kharma, so stupid people can feel good about being taken advantage of for being terrible judges of character, by reinforcing the false conception they don't need to learn from their mistakes, and their trials actually mean something in the end.
But i digress.
The whole discussion came about when our vacation party, planned to set off in late september, was given a cog in the gears. Three of us had been Invited to a wedding, for which only two of us had any relationship with the bride and groom. Not necessarily a real problem, however the wedding is schedualed in the middle of the first real vacation I've been able to take in almost fifteen years. Of course, some feel more obligated to go than others. The exception of course being my self, because I havent even seen the soon to married couple in five years.
So I told them, It Is no dilemma for me. Im going on vacation, with or with out you turkeys ¡dynomite! ¡dinomite! (They didn't get the reference). So I may not be going on vacation this year (at least not the planned, group expedition), and I made my self to be a heartless jerk, that through the course of discussion on marriges In general, am analogous to some characture in a badly written, fairytale movie for dumb broads with abandonment issues.
Whatever. It's a stupid movie. Weddings are also stupid. No way anyone in their right mind would jump through ridiculous hoops to officiate a live In romantic partner. Now, its cool for those that do. But it isnt exactly prudent to chastise someone over an opinion they warned you not to get into, when your planning on spending several days, isolated in the woods of maine with.
