"Kid shows"

I never seen MLP so take this for what it's worth. Not all kid shows are entirely directed at kids.

personally I love the show and the reason isn't hard to understand, you just have to give it a chance.

the reason I love the show is because it is vastly different than 90% of the cartoons out there. the characters are well written, in fact the show is so character heavy that unless you know the characters you won't get any of the humor.

the creator  is known for doing this. she was the creator of the Powerpuff girls and fosters home for imaginary friends. she writes for not only children, but adults. she puts in smart refrences that only people in their 20's/30's will get (the number 42 for instance, she used that as character humor and not just a refrence.... that is how well the show is written).

it's just refreshing to see a cartoon not treat children/adults as morons. and the show has absolutely nothing to do with the previous shows, in fact the only reason they are ponies seems to be to make horribly awesome pony puns, other than that it doesn't matter one way or another.

Actually, the staff is on record as including the things only adults would get solely for their own amusement, while Faust's goal was just to provide girls with decent, relateable characters that they can look up to. Aside from the parents of their demographic and/or fans of older MLP works, they didn't intend for many adults to enjoy it.

thats untrue. I don't doubt that some of the stuff made it because an animator thought it would be cute, but Faust created the show so that parents could enjoy it as well.

she is just suprised that anyone outside of the parenting realm would give it a shot.

The animation is mediocre. It's the same flash gimmicks with no artistic or aesthetic thought. Faust ought to be commended for her work but essentially she was polishing a turd. Now that she's off that show, I'm guessing one of the bigger networks like CN or Nick will let her do something more worthwhile with her time. And give her creative freedom, which she didn't have when she was basically just another arm for Hasbro to push **noel**ty toys.

I like to make my own memes.

Like the story of a certain Fire type Pokemon and the soft texture of his head.

How would you like a Rusty Venture?

...Which is more or less what I said. :smileyindifferent:

But yeah, the director said that most of it was just them entertaining themselves. I saw it somewhere on Equestria Daily, but it was a while ago, so I don't feel like combing through their archives for the link.

She worked on an animated show about a Hasbro toy. She left because of creative differences. In essence, she had far more creative freedom at her last two Cartoon Network gigs.

no thats not hwat you said. what you said was only former fans and "they didn't intend for many adults to enjoy it."

they wanted adults to enjoy it, that was her stance at day 1. they wanted all adults who watched it to enjoy it.... I mean that is what she does, she takes sissy themes like the pp girls and makes them into shows adults like.

she always intended for adults to like the show, she just didn't think that people who didn't have children would give it a shot. and when you do the math.... that is almost as many adults as children.

"Aside from the parents of their demographic and/or fans of older MLP works" were my exact words.
