You can't make threads yet. I don't think the thread making button shows up for you yet.

There is a two day "get your feet wet" period. You can read and post and have all other options available, but you can't make threads. The idea is to give you a chance to familiarize yourself with the board layout and rules (quick! before it changes) before you start leading discussions.
