Well, my credit's fuuuuuudgeed.

Thanks, Mom.

Thanks for putting the car insurance, the phone, the gas, and the cable bills in my name.

And then thanks for not paying them.

I didn't want a loan so I can go to grad school, or to buy a car, or to move out ever anyways. You just made it that much easier for me.

Special thanks for not telling me that you weren't paying them.

You have no idea how surprised I was when I came across all the unopened and unpaid bills while I was cleaning the house tonight.

It's like Christmas and my birthday all rolled into one!

I'd try to pay it back slowly.

Usually speaking though I avoid credit like the plague. I need it for a car loan but other than that -- I only buy things with cash or money order.

If you can't get the credit blame shifted to her there's a wonderful company that actually helped my parents, and my sister get rid of their debt. My parents didn't follow the program exactly and they screwed themselves. But my sister just finished being in debt four days ago. She had over 12000 in debt when she started a few years ago.

It's called Trinity Debt Management.  And yes it is a Christian based orginization, but they do know what they're doing.

Did you know that she was putting them in your name? I'm not sure if it's possible to do that without your consent.

I'm going to go under the assumption that the reason that she put them in your name because she already had a bad history of not paying her bills. If that's the case, that would have been something to keep tabs on.

It sounds like something that might fall under wire or mail fraud.  If she's presenting herself as someone else to gain services and not paying.

Ghetto life.

I thought people only did that with toddlers and young children, not adult children who could actually sue them.

my dad did that to me with a credit card. he insisted i made him an authorized user. since i was living at home at the time i felt forced to do it.

right after i moved out and on my own i found out he was way behind on the payments. it almost destroyed out relationship. and i will NEVER let anyone use my name for any kind of credit ever again.

yea, but you need a decent credit score to get anything these days. a car, an apartment, even a job sometimes. also, to the op, when did this happen? if she put things in your name when you were a minor, you should be able to dispute them if they're on your credit report. you may be able to even if you weren't a minor.
