this was cuz he signed his moms credit card slip like a handicaper

I use to have great cursive.
Now it looks like crap and I've forgotten a few letters.

I've heard it's being phased out because a lot of college professors require printing (or whatever you call not-cursive) because nobody can write clearly in cursive.

The only thing cursive is good for is signatures.

And most people don't even write their signature, they just develop a reflexive jerking motion through muscle memory over time.

Honestly, I'm surprised kids are taught handwriting at all (including print) these days.

I used to have beautiful penmanship. My cursive has gotten worse and worse over the last 10-15 years. I hardly ever use true cursive anymore. My handwriting's morphed into a connected print scrawl, and even that can be hard to read.

Plus, my brain always thinks faster than my hand can write, so I omit letters. I immediately go back and add whatever's missing. Sometimes that makes things look even worse. Feh.

ANYway: Handwriting's a dying art, unfortunately. Everyone types or texts now. What will everyone do when The 2012 Apocalypse® kills the internet and phone service, and the only way to communicate over long distances is by handwritten messages? We're all doomed.

Writing is being phased out so the teachers can spend more time teaching kids how to gimp their way through standardized tests.

I write cursive all the time. With a quill because I'm hardcore like that.

Cursive isn't used anywhere near as much as it used to be. It's all about typing skills now. Only thing I use it for is a signature. I was never really good at cursive anyway.

my kids learned cursive, but only because i taught them. i don't think they're teaching it in schools anymore. which is crazy i think.

They taught me cursive when I was in kindergarten.

But I gave up on learning it because the lessons on it were pretty bad. Never actually successfully learned cursive.

They're not very strict about handwriting anymore..... my little brother is almost in high school and his handwriting still looks like a 4-yr-old's.

Does anyone use cursive outside of a signature? I mean, it didn't improve my handwriting, so maybe schools just decided to cut the expensive "pen and paper" budget.
