OK. So he's an incondierate idiot, and it's making you irate, but how is he irate?

If it's sympathy you're looking for, you'll find it in the dictionary, somewhere between "sh!t" and "syphilis."

I'm prob. gonna have to get a roommate soon.

Any tips on screening them? I got lucky in college to have quiet ones.

deff, make sure they have a habbit of picking up after themselves, make sure they are responsible about paying bills on time, avoid addicts...also b4 u get some make clear the rules you want inforced in ur home, also i would recomend not living with friends, it can ruin a relationship, living with someone can make u hate them.

I thought roommates were supposed to be inconsiderate assholes, part of the job description really.

The made-up stories are all about brilliant handsome rich suave people who almost get away with it; the real stories are about stupid, mean pigs who confess the minute they get brought into the interrogation room. Just scum killing scum, for some dumb reason or no reason at all. Kinda what has already been said.

Make sure the rules are set in stone before anyone signs any agreements. And they need to be obvious type rules that apply to everyone so no one can claim they are being unfairly targeted. Things like keeping the common living areas from looking like a third world hovel and not brushing your dang teeth in the shower are things that everyone benefits from in the end. Actual chores can be a bit trickier and will probably vary from situation to situation. Just out of college in a house, everyone was responsible for their own dirty dishes, end of discussion. But I usually swept, mopped and vacuumed the place because I worked nights and had the day to do things like that while others took out the garbage and did the yardwork. With the last set of roommates, everyone was responsible for getting their dirty dishes into the washer and whoever topped it off, ran it and put things away. That usually worked because whoever made the biggest dish mess was likely the one who filled the machine anyway.

Set in stone how the bills will be dealt with and make sure everyone is well-aware of it because if the bills are in your name, it's going to be your responsibility to get them paid on time no matter how many ways it's supposed to be divided. Bills make and break a whole lot of things. The last thing you'll ever want to deal with is some mooch-tard running up a pay-per-view bill and then pleading poverty when the statement makes it's appearance before they can take off for the weekend. Screw the hard luck stories and big dream stories alike. Someone 'waiting' for the perfect job is going to be sitting on the couch hogging the remote and stinking up the place. And big dreams are great but if that big dream keeps you from holding a real job in real life while working towards that big dream, then it's back to having a couch carbuncle for a roommate.

Basically think of getting a roommate like having to go over someone's job application. You wouldn't hire just anyone to work for you, there should be that level of consideration going on for someone that will have access to all your crap [and you theirs] when you aren't around.

Friends can be a bit tricky. I was lucky that my last roommates were college friends and our schedules were adequately different that we weren't all home at the same time all the time. Things usually get bad when everyone has the same schedule because then no one has time to themselves. So I've had good experiences but others have had bad. I'd say err on the side of general caution and go for a newbie. You won't feel like you lost much if you end up strangers in the same apartment that way.

My roomates used to eat all of my food, steal my CDs, and one had the balls to wear my brand new Js to school...........He was in a wheelchair, so less likely to mess them up, but still.

I finally robbed the joint, and moved out.

Kaitlyn brought a wolf for me to fight, and refused to speak to me until I'd bested it in battle.
I did so, easily. Because there are three things that I'm the t!ts at: Barbecuing, Mega Man 2 and finding lupine pressure points.
I thought we'd mack a little after that, but she just laugh-cried manically over the wolf corpse until her face turned purple. Also, she was driving an Aztek and that's literally my only deal breaker.

I laughed for about 10 minutes.

Once upon a time in a land far away, a beautiful, independent, self-assured princess happened upon a frog as she sat contemplating ecological issues on the shores of an unpolluted pond in a verdant meadow near her castle.

The frog hopped into the princess' lap and said: Elegant Lady, I was once a handsome prince, until an evil witch cast a spell upon me. One kiss from you, however, and I will turn back into the dapper young prince that I am, and then, my sweet, we can marry and set up housekeeping in your castle with my mother, where you can prepare my meals, clean my clothes, bear my children, and feel forever grateful doing so.

That night, as the princess dined sumptuously on a repast of lightly sautéed frogs legs seasoned in a wine and onion cream sauce she chuckled to herself and thought: I don't f*cking think so..

i know about that. I still don't talk to one guy I knew in college because he would never stop drinking.(ex roommate)

Other than that most of the ones I've ever had are pretty quiet. Guess I was lucky in that regard.

Well you know, my opinion is to threaten to feed him to a wood chipper, but when you say it be dead serious.

I know that is what I would do, or tell him I was going to catch him asleep bind him up and throw him into a running combine harvester if he didn't turn the music off.

Or maybe I would do the sensible thing and just smash the fuuuuuudge out of his system in a baseball bat wielding sleepless rage fit one late night.
