Hahaha Chinacula and a pancake.

and the sentient "racks".  Since there was a Saul Rockface in the character sketches I'll bet he does end up having s.ex with one of them.  :smileyhappy:

I was pulling for Chinacula also, but Johnny Tambourine should be just as good.

This was a great episode and I think it makes the previous two episode look somewhat better in retrospect to see the kind of setup they were doing; this show definitely needs more than the 11-minutes it's given to do what I think it's trying to do. This was probbably the best episode so far, and there were very few lines by Johnny Tambourine. The whole election sequences were hialrious, loved the commercials (Chinacula was robbed :smileyvery-happy:). I love the cheese factor of Saul's rock theory, his love for geodes, and his rival on the Tallahassee geological liscensing board. Excellent episode.

I am still completely disappointed in this show. I want to like it, but it is not working for me.

The feeling I get when viewing is like when you had to watch your friends put on a play in high school. You sat there and tried to enjoy it as much as possible and be polite for the sake of your friends feelings.

But deep down inside you knew that it was the lamest thing ever. Your friends are not funny and they are embarrassing themselves in front of the world.

That may be why you're not enjoying it so much, you're trying to hard to enjoy it on its "merits" and not reveling in the cheese and corn. If they were trying to put on a serious show with a real and compelling plot, then you could say they were embarassing themsleves, but I think they are very much in the spirit of the thing and are succeeding at thwat they're trying to do, though a longer spot I think would really help them.

Perhaps you are right. I do want the humour to be more clever and witty. I get as much enjoyment from the thought needed to craft a joke as the joke itself. The humour is just so OBVIOUS and kid-like on this show. If that leaves other people in stiches, more power to them.

I really dug this week's episode. Gave it its first five. Mole Man politics were fun to witness, especially the campaign ads. Chinacula's attack ad against the Floating Pancake takes the prize. I'm also really enjoying the Gregory Peck voice they've given Clancy.

"What about Johnny Tambourine?"

I kinda look at it like a Mystery Science Theater 3000 movie, which is one of the vibes I take from this show; I think there is a certain level of participation in the humour of the show, not that one has to craft the jokes themselves, but one has to suspend a sense of disbelief or sophistication or convention.... I don't know if that's the exact meaning of what I'm trying to say.  I think the show works almost on two levels, but I don't wanna say it's subtle or deep, because I don't think it is, it's more like: on a completely superficial level the show presents a very obvious, childlike humor, but the humor of the show comes from the presentation of the surface humor, as well as other elements. I suppose it's not something everyone can or will find funny, I know it works on me and others I discuss [as] programming with on almost a fairly regular basis.

YES!!! I knew someone else would pick up on that, that was great.

"Drawing hearts around things doesn't mean you want to have sex with those things." So loved that line.
"What about Johnny Tambourine?"
I thought one of the interesting things about this episode was that it was very strong, but Johnny Tambourine, who fans almost universally agree is the best part of the show, had very few lines, none that were really funny in and of themselves, though I loved his expressions in the tube.

I'd have voted for Bertram, he'd have done something about the immigrants. Though I'm sure Johnny Tambourine will do a splendid job.

Great episode. The election campaigns were hilarious, specially Chinacula and Flying Pancake. Johnny being granted as king was a perfect ending to the episode, hopefully this will result in more airtime for him. The two operators at STRATA Headquarters are also funny characters who need more time on the screen as well. I'm curious as to where the show is headed and am eager for some more.

The scene with Saul and the talking rock was hilarious. Saul's accent really gets to me during that part, I was laughing hysterically. Although the vomiting was beyong nasty.
Also, Saul's facial expression after the rock says "enough about highschool! No one cares about high school!, " is priceless :smileyvery-happy:
