I read an article in The New Yorker (I think, twitter has made the actual source irrelevant...thanks internet!) about the "dirtbag comedies" which referenced Archer, Always Sunny, and Eastbound and Down as the genre of where the main characters are generally irredeamable pieces of ####...that the audience inexplicably relates to. I was pissed that I didn't make words on pages, because when I first saw Always Sunny I thought to myself "Umm, it's Sealab if they owned a dirty bar in Philly".
Ahh, Sealab, true pioneers of dirtbaggery! Your fearless leader is insane, and your best chance at redemption is a narcissist. Not one cast member, not even Dr. Quinn, are actually decent human beings. Yeah, he tries to save Sealab sometimes. Unless he can stick it in a Debbie. #pussysidetracked
I find myself picturing Always Sunny dialogue with Sealab characters (or vice versa)

Of course Dr. Quinn isn't a decent human being. He's black a robot.
And yeah, I always pictured Charlie being Stormy and Mac being Sparks.

Black Debbie can be the Waitress. Always on the moral high ground...until Marco (Dennis) gives her a bit of that Vitamin M (D.E.N.N.I.S Method).
I actually did Marco and Mac.
(edit) I realize I wrote that I DID Marco and Mac, which would be a sexy Latino-Irish Train Ride...but what I mean is that I though ot Marco and Mac as similar characters. I guess Mac is more like a Marco-Sparks hybrid though.
Dennis is pretty much all of the Sealab characters.
