Action Programming Schedule Suggestions

[ Edited ]

I wanted to post a thread for actual schedule type suggestions.

If you have suggestions for shows you'd like to see that are out of rotation, or you'd like to see the block rescheduled in some way, feel free to post here.

Also if you wish to just have fun posting your fantasy AS Action schedules, you can do that in here too.

So: What would your fantasy AS Action block look like? You can go small (Thursdays only), medium (the entire block as it currently exists), or completely crazeh (fantasy AS channel).

Rules:

1. If you have a suggestion for a specific show, look for an already existing thread and post there, or, if a thread doesn't exist, post a new thread suggesting the show. This thread's just for schedule suggestions and dream schedules.

2. If you post something, odds are somebody's going to have comments or criticisms about it, there's nothing wrong with that. There can be useful information in criticism. But no trolling, if you have criticism, try to have some thoughts beyond "that's stupid".

I want this thread to be kind of a fun programming game, an outlet for your dream schedules, and a place for you to suggest action scheduling changes.

So have fun.

I have a few questions. We saw with Last Exile, WHR, & Wolf's Rain that the time it takes for unlicensed anime to be dubbed & obtain a broadcast license has shrunk considerably. Especially in the case of Wolf's Rain. It took about a year total. Wolf's Rain is presently on ep 30 in Japan.

That being the case is it ok for us to anime that has not yet obtained a broadcast license?

Similarly I've seen other networks air animes appearing on The Anime Network. This strongly suggests that anime appearing ON-DEMAND over Comcast is not exclusively licensed.
Is it ok for us to mention some of those titles?

Finally, I'm hoping AS will experiment with anime comedies during comedy air time.
Is it ok for us to build a schedule on that basis?

Here's my dream schedule for 2005:
I'll leave sunday to the toons since the mods are big fans.

M-W
comedy toon : Family Guy
comedy anime: Mabahuro + Green Green (36 ep)
comedy/action anime: One Piece (126 ep)
action anime: Inu Yasha (104 ep)
action anime: Full Metal Alchemist + Witch Hunter Robin + Wolf's Rain (72 ep)
action anime: Ghost in the Shell + Cowboy Bebop + Trigun (72 ep)

R
comedy/action anime: Full Metal Panic (36 ep)
comedy/action anime: Colorful (26 ep)
action anime: Naruto (75 ep)
action anime: Naruto (back to back would be sweet)
action anime: Full Metal Alchemist (26 ep)
action anime: Peace Maker Kurogane (26 ep)

Sat
action anime: Saiyuki RELOAD (26 ep)
action anime: Area 88 (26 ep)
action anime: ANIME MOVIE
action anime: ANIME MOVIE
action anime: ANIME MOVIE
action anime: ANIME MOVIE

ANIME movie titles:
Sakura Wars
Hellsing (Hellsing could be split up into 3 movie nights)
Ghost in the Shell
InuYasha movies 1,2, & 3
Detective Conan
Animatrix
Armitage III(3 movies)
Black Jack
Cowboy Bebop
Dirty Pair

I'll add more later, but this is one thing I don't understand about Adult Swim.
Doesn't it make more sense to license the movies & then if there are decent ratings
go ahead & license a season's worth of episodes for that show?
Of course we need Saturday nights to do that.

um..ok I think I have a line up set and ready...maybe

12:00 - InuYasha

12:30 - Escaflowne (long shot I know)

1:00   - OutLaw Star

1:30   - Rirouni Kenshin

2:00   - MOVIE!!!! (any Anime movie would be good so long as I am well entertained for the night)

Now I like what AS is doing now with the double airing of shows right after they are done with the first line up and then they show them again. So...

3:30 - 4:00 InuYasha and so on, but minus the movie on the second airing. I think that much sums it up.

Thursday Action:

11 pm Inuyasha
11:30pm Inuyasha
12am Flcl
12:30am  Movie
2:30am  Reign the Conqueror

3am-7am repeat block.

of course, in this scenario the block is expanded to 4 hours.  but why not?  CN doesn't really use that last hour before their daytime block kicks off anyhow.  As would basically take the place of Time Squad and - whatever other CC show was on after AS just to kill time until the morning block kicks off.

I actually love Reign.  For me it's: flcl, cowboy bebop, reign.

But I've always thought both flcl and reign suffer from being played every night instead of once a week.  So that's why I'd select those two shows for the once a week block.

I'm actually not personally fond of Inuyasha, but I think it gets good ratings and I always liked the idea of back to back episodes.  Too bad Saturdays got yanked away from AS.

For an all action night on any day of the week...

11:00p - Yu Yu Hakusho (total 112 eps)
11:30p - S-Cry-Ed (26 eps)
12:00p - Full Metal Panic! (24 eps) after first run do Full Metal Panic?: Fumoffu (15 eps)
12:30a - RahXephon (26 eps)
1:00a - Rurouni Kenshin (95 eps) running late to avoid heinous editing...
1:30a - Final Fantasy: Unlimited (25 eps)

This kinda line-up would keep me watching every night... plenty of new stuff, plus one show that has unfinished business with AS for slave-trading it to Toonami... down with censorship, up with the action...

Re: Action Programming Schedule Suggestions

Action M-W dream schedule (placed sometime in the future, so this includes titles we know are on AS, but haven't been broadcasted yet):

(barring only Action's 12/12:30-01:30 AM slot)

12:00 - Detective "Case Closed" Conan (assuming it's not pre-empted by Comedy, which may begin to have an extra 30 minutes starting in April)
12:30 - Scrapped Princess (a personal favorite, which still has a small chance of becoming AS material)
01:00 - [cycled] Wolf's Rain/Cowboy Bebop/Witch Hunter Robin/Trigun
01:30 - [cycled] Lupin the III/Blue Gender/Kikaider/Reign

Action Thursday/Saturday dream schedule:

11:00 - Inuyasha (assuming it's not moved to Toonami's middle-block by this time; if so, then possibly the controversial Rurouni Kenshin may be a possibility)
11:30 - FLCL/The Animatrix (I'm almost certain this will not be a one-night only even, so it might be liable to be cycled in between FLCL)
12:00 - Samurai Champloo (although currently in production, it's an almost dead-ringer for Adult Swim)
12:30 - Ghost in the Shell: Stand-Alone Complex
01:00 - [cycled] Wolf's Rain/Cowboy Bebop/Witch Hunter Robin/Trigun
01:30 - [cycled] Lupin the III/Blue Gender/Kikaider/Reign

Most of this is based on content that Adult Swim has already licensed, and it doesn't take into account any licenses that AS may have bought by the time any of this comes to fruition. I'd like to think this layout is based firmly in reality, but wishes like Samurai Champloo and Scrapped Princess may be a bit far-fetched. In any case, only time will tell.

Just a little note here: There's a reason I didn't mention RahXephon...

It seems to be a headliner for ADV's network. I'm not going to touch on the whole ADV debate much (it's pretty useless), but I will say that because it's one of the many titles that ADV is advertising specifically for that channel, it seems highly unlikely that they'd lend this particular license to Cartoon Network. Again, not impossible, but highly, highly unlikely.

I'm aware.
I'm also aware that this is a thread that permits fantasy schedule suggestions, even Luuv asks for plausible titles.

Ergh, I think Luuv's intent was for you to create a fantasy schedule that was also plausible. In the case of RahXephon, it's implausible. Look at my namesake: Don't you think I'd positively love to see RahXephon on the schedule? I've been over the same debate a million times over, and I've simply learned that not mentioning it all provides the least amount of controversy.

In retrospect, you're not incorrect by suggesting RahXephon, and it may very well be deemed plausible in one form, but, I've simply learned to approach RahXephon with an out-of-sight/out-of-mind philosophy; thus, I become apprehensive whenever I see anybody mentioning it. I apologize if I came off elitist, I was simply trying to be realistic. (Albeit, maybe, a little too realistic.)

actually my intent was both.

I think plausible schedule suggestions are more useful.  But fantasy suggestions are more fun.  No reason one can't do both.

Also, you'll notice in my opening post I sort of say it's okay to do both.  And suggest, if one feels like it, they can post something way out, but then follow it up with some more plausible suggestions.

I made the thread to go both ways.  To be a practical, plausible source of information, AND a fun game/outlet for fantasy/armchair schedulers.

So both things are alright.

Ok, in that case, I was just jumping the gun on RahXephon. Like I said, I've spent a great deal of time arguing this particular anime, and it's reached a point now that I almost subconsiously become apprehensive each time I see the anime's name mentioned in a suggestion list. I'll try to be a little more open-minded in the future, sorry about that.

Sad...but, something thankful RahXephon isn't much of a possibility. I've been having doubts about whether certain anime should be shown on [as]. I'm a bit jaded right now.

Now, back on topic.
