You say intelligent shows put people to sleep (disregard the fact that anime on [as] comes on at 12-5am) yet half the people that watch [as] for anime are Bebop fans (I'm not included as I've never been a Bebop fan) I believe people's view of "intelligent" anime is quite misconstrued, in order for an anime to be intelligent you do NOT have to half 80% plot and 20% action as some people would like to think. There are just as many witty and thought provoking animes with a good balance of intelligence and action (FMA anyone?) [as] just has to stop being cheap and go out on a limb, I mean they already play what they want to (Tim and Eric) and expect people to watch it, not much of a stretch.

Some people would disagree with you about FMA being a good balance of aciton and intelligence.

I don't even really consider Bebop an "intelligent" show. It's a show with a broad appeal because it's mostly adults doing adult things and it has a killer style to it. Honestly I'm not a big Bebop fan. It's not among my favorite anime. But I respect it for doing a good job with it's 26 episode span.

I love me some Big O and Ghost in the Shell but they can be a bit too cerebral for some people.

I'm actually curious which shows you are suggesting that intelligent?

Because stuff like Monster will likely flop like Death Note. It's a brilliant anime or so I'm told and I'm sure people on the broads would love for it to air on Adult Swim but the ratings would likely be sub par or even terrible.

So again I implore you to list some shows you think suits your definition of intelligent entertainment.

HELPeR for the TOONAMI, Mobile Suit Gundam, Dragon Ball Z, Harvey Birdman and Perfect Hair Forever boards. Feel free to ask me anything on those topics.

There's shows like Hitman (definitely not a kid's show), Ergo Proxy (who's had its run on Fuse with Tenjho Tenge), Tokko (dropped by Sci-Fi), Jyu Oh Sei aka Planet of the Beast King. The list goes on but it would be up to [as] to decide which one of these shows they would actually shell out money to obtain the rights to. My suggestion is that they pick up at least 2 "intelligent" anime and 2 typical shonen action animes (Tokyo Majin and Tenjho Tenge come to mind).

How about Todd McFarlane's Spawn??? Such a freaking great show, plus it's a rare opportunity to get a serious action cartoon on here that isn't an anime,.

It's an HBO series but it's over a decade old, I don't think it'd be too hard to license. Might have to edit a bit but it'd be worth it.

Also while we're on the topic of American action cartoons... ever consider bringing on shows like Batman: The Animated Series or X-Men: The Animated Series? Not exactly shows for adults but they're considered all-time classics and most Adult Swim viewers are right in the age group to get nostalgic over those. I mean if you can play Pee-Wee's Playhouse you can play these hahaha. I think they might get some play on Disney XD or some channel though so maybe it's not necesary to bring those on AS atm.

I made a stand-alone thread about this (to which NOBODY has replied), but I'm suggesting the newly dubbed anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

It might be rather cutesy at times, as well as emotionally heavy, but the absurdist art battle sequences have [adult swim] written all over them. Cottonballs with mustaches?! Tell me that's not as [as] as 2 superhuman guys fighting over jazz riffs (like what happens often in Durarara!!).
This Saturday Night, on [adult swim]: TOONAMI'S BACK, BlTCHES!! A New Bleach Episode (255) kicks us off at Midnight, followed by the SERIES PREMIERES of Deadman Wonderland at 12:30 and Casshern Sins at 1! Then, we've got 3 back-to-back classics: FMA:B Episode 32 "Fuhrer's Son" at 1:30, followed by GITS: 2nd Gig Episode 17 "Red Data" at 2 and Cowboy Bebop Episode 15 "My Funny Valentine" at 2:30! Also, watch lots of [as] ACTN shows including Durarara!!, The Big O, and more online any time you want at http://video.adultswim.com/action/index.html

Elsewhere: New season of ThunderCats continues Saturday at 9:30 AM on CN! Avatar: The Legend of Korra continues Saturdays at 11 AM on Nickelodeon!

InuYasha IS still on--at 5:30 AM/4:30 Central, on the absolute butt-end of the block before relinquishing control to CN.

But your'e half-right--they need to get the Final Act stat!

I had heard that the dubbing for Final Act was underway sometime around last year and they were prepared to put it on the [as] block sometimes this year. Hopefully 2012 will be a better year for anime in general with the release of the new Avatar and more Inuyasha. Meanwhile, I am secretly hoping that television execs are planning to make an all-new channel based around action cartoons like Ytv in Japan.

What? There's more Avatar coming out!? I thought Book 3 was the end--but then again NickToons was probably begging for the studio to produce more just like [as] was begging for more Boondocks!

As for InuYasha: The Final Act, I guess right now the block is just too bloated with both FMA:B and DRRR!! in rerun with encore status. But IY:TFA could be easily added without knocking out anything more than FLCL and classic IY. Another anime would result in the loss of either Kekkaishi (current run ending in June), DRRR!! encore (current run ending in July), or The Big O, which BTW I'm disappointed they have no plans of (or rights to) airing Season 1, which appeared briefly on [as] Gold a few weeks ago.

Kekkaishi's got some episodes left in it's second run but the encores of the reruns for FMA:B and DRR are QUITE expendable as are FLCL and The Big O season 2. Even Bebop could take a few months off but GitS should be allowed to finish it's current run before it takes a break.

There is indeed a new series for The Last Airbender, it's set many years into the future and features a female protagonist. It starts this Fall I believe.

For whatever reason they aren't airing Final Act yet and perhaps don't have it yet. Some people are theorizing that they wont get it until the InuYasha broadcast contract is up for renewal so they can get a better deal lumping it all together instead of getting The Final Act on a seperate contract. Who knows when that will be though or if they are even interested in airing it?

I seriously think you guys should get Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor, Get Backers, and possibly Fist of the Northstar. Guyver is a 26 episode series, Get Backers has 49, and I'm unsure how many episodes Fist of the Northstar has. There are also shows like, Witchblade, Bubblegum Crisis, and Vanguard that I would also like to see in the near future.

Personally i still think that adult swim should give serious consideration to playing Elfen Lied, Full Metall Panic (the Original, Fumoffou, and the Second Raid, besides they're already in bed with funimation so why not right?), Corpse Princess, Highschool of the Dead,  hell even Needless. Or anything to break up the monotony that has plagued adult swim in recentyears. i bet if they stopped making those idiotic live action shows they'd have the cash to get more anime liscenses. I don't even know why they do it. If i wanted live action comedy on tv (which i rarely do other than stand-up) i'd watch comedy central (and i bet i'm not the only one with this perspective). The greatest thing that i've always loved about  adult swim were the action animes they showed, which ended up getting me into anime, but in the past couple years they've stopped showing all the good stuff and started up all of this live-action nonsense. It is incredibly depressing to see how the greatest pseudo-network to ever exist on tv has just completely fallen from grace. They've gone from the best of the best to freakin children's hospital and eagleheart. Who knows maybe good ol' adult swim has some more tricks up their sleeve, god i hope so...............

Alright well i'm off the boards as of April 30th, and i won't be back for 2-6 months. Have fun ASMB XD.

I joined only for this purpose, but i'm not sure if anyone running adult swim knows yet, but BONES is coming out with a new eureka seven project called Eureka Seven: AO (astral ocean) it is airing in japan next month, i am positive that this would be a good show choice for you guys because the dub of the first series is what made many anime lovers watch adult swim (that and inuyasha). but also, there is an amazing 12 part series called IS: Infinite Stratos. I think it is already DUBed, either of this would be a great edition to put on adult swim. that is all, thank you for reading.

I think that would be a great idea. I wasn't the biggest Eureka Seven fan the first time around, but it certainly held my attention and did enough for me to keep coming back to it weekend after weekend. I'd totally be down for AO and Infinite Stratos.

idk about a whole schedule but I would like to see Basilisk on [as]… its a pretty good anime
