Show Suggestions

Pretty good suggestions! Most of those have been aired at one point, I believe, either on AS or daytime programming (as in the case of Gundam Seed, which I personally found to be so boring I couldn't stick with it long enough to catch on to it). Trinity Blood just finished in the past year. It would be great to see Vision of Escaflowne make a comeback! Chrno Crusade would be a lot of fun, if CN could get the permission or whatever to play it. I DO wish they'd run Kenshin uncut on AS. That would totally rock. Lol, my choice for an anime (Gensomaden Saiyuki) doesn't even make that list, how sad, and Vandread and Vandread 2 are on there, but they used to run on the Action Channel, which doesn't even run anime anymore (woulda helped if they'd kept running stuff like Hellsing and Blue Seed instead of running Street Fighters for the twentieth time).

The Adult Swim Programming Directors should be embarrassed about removing anime.  Perhaps they don't realize that anime is what got most AS watchers addicted.  Perhaps they don't realize that anime is where AS got started.  Perhaps they actually think things like Tom Goes to the Mayor, Home Movies and Stroker & Hoop are actually funny showing their disconnect with the tastes of the viewer majority. They've gotten lazy with the bumps and moments between programs and commercials (I remember when, exhausted, I would hear the music and my eyes would snap open to see what funny thing they were saying), but I could accept that if they made me want to watch the shows.  This was the best and frequently only place and time to find good anime on tv.  It's so sad what has happened.

I will say however, that it is very kind of them that with this move they have given me the option of learning what is on at night on other channels. They even helped me stop my self-induced insomnia... couldn't stop watching because I might miss an episode or new anime and loved it.  Less anime forces me to watch less and less.  Thanks AS, thanks Williams St., and thanks Turner for helping me see less of your sponsors and programming by not showing what I want to see.

Yea.... I am new to these boards but I am a big otaku lol and I would have to agree with most of the post here. I do have to say I am surprised that Adult swim got Code Geass on here as fast as the did it had just ended in Japan not to long ago (less then a year) and they alrdy got 13 episodes(8 which are out planning on 25) for season 2(sry for the spoiler). I have to agree with Brother90 on this one... there are is alot of good anime out there I mean alot and Adultswim got airing rights from Sunrise and Bandai to air Code Geass so I don't think it would be hard for them to obtain other ones I think the main Problem is the viewers since most ppl watch Adult swim for Family Guy which can only get to be so funny. NEED MORE ANIME VIEWERS. That is my opinion

I wrote a thread just a little earlier tonight on this and properly vented my spleen that way, so I'll keep it simple on this one.

To regain ratings with Anime, [as] needs to freshen up the offerings a bit. It's one thing to run a good series a few times so that everyone can catch up on any episodes they missed, but it is a completely different thing to run a series into the ground like [as] has accomplished with Inuyasha, Cowboy Bebop, FLCL and several others.

Those that argue all the good anime has been shown already certainly don't understand that spring of anime wealth that Japan puts out there every single year.

I personally would love to see [as] grab these two series:

Bokurano

Gunslinger Girl

Both are excellent action-dramas and Gunslinger Girl has that gritty edginess about it that drew so much attention to Bebop.

I'd also like to see Samurai Champloo picked up again and have the entire series run. I seem to recal [as] dropped the series about halfway through. Whether this was due to lack of dubbed material ready for viewing or due to a general malaise that seems to have come over the anime section around the time of it's appearance is unknown to me, but I really enjoyed it as a series with a nice mix of comedy, drama, and action.

I agree. Adult Swim needs more anime. The anime is what keeps it alive. Yeah, some people watch faimly guy, but do they like it. You know it kills the time. But are they just waiting for a anime show to come on. That is the question. Deep down you know that's 60-80% of the people are craving it. We love the action, lust, comedy, and the suspence. My idea for new shows is that they just go grab some random magna series, and la la new show on adult swim!

I think we should get something from another country.

Japan is awesome, but I would like to see what South Korea has to offer in anime.

Trigun and Samurai Champloo were kick #### too.

If they were to play an old show i would want one of those.

Personaly, I think Inuyasha has been on way to long,

and when you play something to much for such a long time you kill it.

I know what AS needs!  They need Ouran High School Host Club as soon as Funi gets off it's lazy bun-bun and dubs it.

The interesting thing about S. Korean animation is that the industry there is so focused on producing outsourced works (The Simpsons, Futurama, and IIRC, even the Venture Brothers are all animated in S. Korea) that they haven't really produced much of their own original content. Even certain Japanese Anime shows and movies have been drawn in S. Korea. Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles is one fine example of this practice.

According to Wikipedia the animation industry in S. Korea has been suffering from turbulent times in recency. Less outsourced animation due to canceled US shows has played some part in this. The major blame according to a lot of studio execs in Korea, lies with the fact that Korean youth are far less interested in Animation than they are in Video Games and their creation. 

You've got to remember that StarCraft is like a @$% religion over there. Whereas the Japanese tend to pay a lot of attention to animation, the Korean youth LOVE their PC games. I'd compare it to the American frat boy love of beer and Madden NFL games, it's that strong.

That isn't to say there aren't any decent Korean animes, just that there isn't a wealth of them like you find in Japan.

I totally agree. I have been in love with AS since it first came on. (All kids out of the pool! Its time for AS)But some of the new shows are just wack. I hate it. Awe....I remember the good times, but for real a change needs to happen with the wackiness. AS needs more anime. What else can I say.

Yeah there's alot of moon fans.Cartoon network use to have it yes but i don't think that gives any reason for AS to buy the rights to it as well. I wish they would though
