I told you already.
I'll watch it eventually.

Although I can say that Gurren Lagann is probably my favorite anime series ever, if not tied with GaoGaiGar and Hajime no Ippo.
I really need to see Hajime no Ippo.
Now that's a show Geneon should have tried to get on Adult Swim.
Gurren and GaoGaiGar are second to only One Piece for me.
I just watched this hilarious stand-up by Louis C.K. that talks about how in America things are so great we have to come up with things to complain about which he deems "white people problems". He mentioned how people always complain about their cell phones are not good enough when any kind of cell phone in the grand scheme of things is an amazing piece of technology.
To apply that logic to anime streaming.
"They take it off before I get around to watching it" - Well the fact that it was ever there (and DUBBED IN ENGLISH) to begin with is pretty remarkable and should be appreciated but some people still don't consider that "good enough".
Do you these people think you can just get Dr. Who, Regular Show and My Little Pony episodes streamed in Japanese over in Japan for even a limited time? Hell no. That's a remarkable privilige. They don't even get those shows streamed subtitled in Japanese legally. Sure they have Cartoon Network in Japan which mostly airs foreign animation for Japan and likewise we have a 24/7 anime channel here. But they're pretty behind the times when it comes to the whole streaming thing. So it's remarkable that they even let the American companies do simulcasts or stream the dubs in order to get people to buy those Japnaese cartoons at some point.

Back in the day, I'm surprised they didn't. I suppose the great sport of boxing didn't appeal to the stereotypical otaku.

That and Eyeshield 21 seemed like the only sports anime that even had a chance to air here. Yet remarkably Prince of Tennis got to air for a short while.
There was probably nothing on Hajime that would have kept it off of Toonami but by the time it was available Toonami was focusing on Shonen Jump anime and stuff Bandai would pay them to play.
Ippo and GaoGaiGar are two shows that would have been brilliant choices for Toonami but by then I don't think Atkins had much say on what aired on the block.

They're trying (Inb4tryharder). They're trying to find something that won't bomb, and would actually work. The vast majority of shows coming out of Japan lately wouldn't work, even if they're critically acclaimed shows like Usagi Drop.

Fine. It just seems to me that they're taking a little too long.

When you consider how hard they're trying, the time frame is completely reasonable.

I dunno, seems to me like there's a few "duh" choices out there still.
Obviously Stein's; Gate, Tiger & Bunny and a few other plausible shows wouldn't be ready to air yet because they need to be dubbed first.
None the less I just came across a show from 2010 called Night Raid, it was just released on DVD/BD in late 2011 by Sentai Filmworks. So at least it hasn't been on the market for that long but IMO the show is right up their alley.
So I'm not so sure they're trying that hard. If they really felt they had a dilema as to what to air the obvious choice that would at least get them decent ratings (possibly great ratings) and make many of their long time viewers happy is InuYasha: The Final Act. Which should have been ready to go as early as several months ago.
I figured they wanted to wait until Durarara was over before launching a new series but now it's been over 2 months since that series ended. They may very well have something for mid March or April but they don't seem to be in a hurry to air anything new. But they might be waiting until Kekkaishi or Durarara finishes it's second run before adding something new to the block. Afterall if they were to have added something new right when DRR ended they would have had to push one of those recently finished shows into the 2AM hour and they might not have wanted to do that.
There's any number of reasons why they don't have something new yet but the questoin remains, how much longer until something fresh comes along? Could be March, could be April, could be May or June, maybe later in Summer or even Fall.
Well all we can do is wait.

This wouldn't really be a problem if you didn't allow Adult Swim to have so much power over what you watch.

why is that?
Edit: I ask outta pure curiosity, has anime gone down in quality recently?

Various reasons. Here's just a few.
1. The show is too tame.
2. The show has too much fanservice, and [as] has stated they'll never air something with a lot of fanservice, so this show is out. I can't even post the opening because of the nudity (Nobody has put up a censored version.), unless somebody finds a version with the nipples censored. There is a good story in there (Along with action.), you just have to get past some of the excessive fanservice, the main character's perverted nature (It's more annoying than funny.), and some more things. If [as] was willing to air shows with plenty of fanservice, this I think would be a perfect fit, though they'd probably have to use the Japanese censors (FUNimation is using those in the streams.).
3. The show wouldn't work with the audience. Brave 10 for example has nice action, and likable characters, but the weak story/practically nonexistant story and lack of explanations of what's going on would just make it a tough sell for [as]. That, and NIS America got it, so a sub-only release probably will happen. There are even critically acclaimed shows like Usagi Drop that wouldn't work with the audience, even though it is about parenting.
Now as for the quality going down, depends on who you ask. I can't really say anymore. 2011 was a record-breaking year. I saw many shows get critical acclaim, and record-breaking sales (Three of them having those big sales being IS: Infinite Stratos, AnoHana, and Puella Magi Madoka Magica.).

Well as more and more titles are being released subbed-only, that mindset probably will change.

Boxing had small appeal in the early 2000's, everyone was too busy getting hyped up over the dinner-theater antics of WWE. Another thing to take into account is that MMA slowly crept into America around this time too.
