Funny animes... hmmm

I think it that adult swim, (although the show is a bit girly) should play Fruits Basket. Just because there is a lot of comedy along with drama. I love it ^^. Chobits is great and very humorous. Another anime I haven't seen and would like to see is DNAngel and I don't feeling like going out and buying the dvds so I think [as] should air it. lol.

Love Hina is definitely in there.  It has to be the funniest manga i've ever read to some extent...but i would like to see it on [adult swim].

I know!  Why not a parody of all these stupid **bleep**ing card game shows.  You know, the ones that are just out there as a half-hour to hour long subliminal commercials to get you hooked to thier stupid card game.  I think we are long due for a parody of one.  And they could sell the cards in the [adult swim] shop.  That would be fun.  An adult CCG (Magic: The Gathering doesn't count).

My List of Anime Comedies! Gotta Watch, Gotta Watch!
Love Hina
Ranma 1/2
Maburaho (I REALLY recommend this one! I've seen the first episode, courtesy of NEWTYPE MAGAZINE!)

I do not recommend pointless shows. Beavis and Butthead make no sense and lose audiences' attention spans quickly.

I don't know if this counts as double-posting, replying to two different people in a row. But I feel this needs to be said:

DNAngel, while a cute and comedic story, is pointed towards the younger demographics.

Fruits Basket is pointed towards the younger ones as well, but it has adult moments and themes laced in, so it would be [adult swim] material. Well, this is my opinion anyway.

Chobits! Definitely, that would be a perfect one to air. Drama, comedy, romance, a bit of fighting and angst near the end... Wonderful, all-around anime.

I do not like reccommend Anime shows with cheap "humor".

Comedy shows shouldn't HAVE a point, its to make you laugh, not to make some crappy plotline.

I'm pretty convinced us normal people wouldn't get your Otaku "comedy", I'm around people like this all day and the stuff they laugh at seems pretty juvenile to me.

Ranma 1/2 is one of the greatest animes of all time but unfortunately AS will not air it because of nudity. I'm pretty sure it'd get great ratings if AS airs it.

Beavis and Butthead is a funny show. It's one of the few american cartoons I like. 90% of american cartoons that are shown now are just boring. The only American shows I watch on the AS now are Family Guy and Futurama.

No, they aren't otaku geeky, I swear. And they have just minimal plotlines, just like Family Guy and American Dad.
Love Hina - This guy inherits ownership of a dormitory and decides to live there to take good care of the property. Turns out, it's a girls' dormitory. Chaos ensues.
Ranma 1/2 - Ranma goes on a trip with his father and falls into a cursed spring. Now, when doused in warm/hot water, he turns into a girl. When submerged/doused in cold, he returns to being a boy.
Maburaho - My favorite. A magic school has accepted a boy that can only use his magic 8 times, when the school is known for exceptional magicians. It turns out it's because of his lineage, and now all the girls want to have his children. Hilarious.

It's true that Love Hina has no plot. It's quasi-romantic pap for those who get off on cartoon **bleep**. Any semblance of plot that it mantains (or any attepmt at humor, for that matter) exists to frame the aformentioned cartoon **bleep**. Love Hina is one show that I never want to see aired.

Assuming this is a thread to suggest comedy anime's I would suggest Comic Party...I really enjoyed watching the little bit of it I saw, I'm not sure how long it is though.

I thought Comic Party was awful. A better parody of anime fans is Genshiken. I never saw the anime but I have the first volume of the manga and it's really funny.

I have a suggestion for a show, its not anime but its pretty groovy. I think if adult_swim made an "adult" version of Ed,Edd, and Eddy it would get a HUGE appeal. I dont know maybe its just me but Ed,Edd,and Eddy **bleep**in rules but it would be even better if they could cuss and what not. So i would enjoy that very much if adult_swim would consider doing that.

Peace Out

Today I picked up the Dilbert DVD collection and I must say that it would make an awesome addition to the Adult Swim comedy schedule. It has that same classic "cancelled before its time" feel that Family Guy and Futurama. Thankfully several years later the twisted (yet conveintently eccentric) minds behind Adult Swim programming realized the hidden potential behind these two shows to completly dominate the 18-24 demographic and Dilbert could command the same prescence. So go out and get yourself the entire series. I promise you won't be disappointed. :robotvery-happy:
