He considers ASA a problem that is long over due to be dealt with regardless of the fact that it does plenty well and pulls it's weight.
So apparently he can't ignore six hours of television that disrupts his otherwise all comedy Adult Swim. Well he's not the one person who has the privledge of watching Adult Swim and therefore his one opinion does not outweigh anyone else's.
Adult Swim should do their best to entertain as many people as possible.
He feels they could better achieve that with all comedy because he's under the assumption Saturday could do better with an all comedy line-up than it does with a mix of comedy and action. There's no evidence of this. Rather there's evidence that implies Saturday only works as well as it does because of the strong comedy lead and the dedicated action viewers tuning when the casual audiences go out and do stuff on Saturday night rather than stay at home and watch reruns of the same shows they could watch any other day of the week.
However, losing those dedicated action viewers would affect the ratings particularly on Saturday and it's highly questionable whether or not the loss could be made up for with additional casual viewers that MIGHT (and I stress might) tune in for other comedies after The Boondocks on Saturday. But why fix what is not only not broken but is also gaining in strength? There's no reason to and all his Adult Swim schedule woes would be dealt with if he could just figure out how to ignore six hours of television a week. Who needs to watch Adult Swim all 63 hours of the week it's on? I sure don't and I don't think anybody in this thread or even on this board is inclined to watch all 63 hours of Adult Swim.
ASA has it's place whether Jeebus is willing to believe it or not and it's ridiculous for someone in the majority audience to try so hard to pick on the miniority audience for not having more mainstream tastes. You are absolutely right in saying as viewers we should just watch what we like and ignore the rest. It's pretty easy for non-anime fans to ignore ASA, it's only 6 of the worst hours of the week to target adult viewers as it is.
I'm starting to wonder if he'd even really be that much "happier" if he got what he's asking for. It's a petty request at any rate. Adult Swim has had action anime since day 1, near as I figure it should never completely do away with that part of the Adult Swim experience and maintaining those six hours isn't asking that much.
