TEH [Official] Movie suggestion thread.

Figured this would be important  to help lower the number of threads suggesting movies, so let's go over the guidelines for this thread.

1. No hentai. Of course.
2. When posting movie, give a small summary of what the movie is about.  Also make notes of the sort of edits that may need to be made.
3. This thread is NOT a guarentee that the movie will be chosen, but you never know.

With that, happy posting.

Spriggan, super soldiers that find Noah's Arc and unleash carnage and stuff.  It has excellent action sequences even though it's kind of low on story.  It's a pretty good flick, altogether.

Vampire Hunter D/Bloodlust, really awesome film by Yosh!taka Amano, former character designer of the Final Fantasy series.  The films are about a half-vampire that kills vampires.  They're great.

Akira, duh.

OMG, I can't say Amano's first name without the censor getting it, lol

To add to Vampire Hunter D:

The original HAS AIRED on CN a looong time ago, and the edited version CN had was very true to the uncut version.

As for Bloodlust, I believe it only needs minor editing. The violence and amount of blood are comparable to InuYasha.

I give both a hearty thumbs up! :smileywink:

ROBOT CARNIVAL!

Now I checked at ANN, and the US license has expired, but if it gets renewed I heavily suggest this series of shorts.

It's an anthology movie simply about robots. There's a Frankenstein story, a giant robot spoof, a tragic "Pinocchio" tale, and some experimental artistic pieces.

All but two of the shorts are without dialogue, but no dialogue is needed to enjoy this movie.

I've only seen this movie on the Sci-Fi Channel, and that was about 8 or 9 years ago. The version Sci-Fi had was already edited, so I don't know if there's anything "inappropriate" in the original.

I love this movie, and I highly recommend [as] looking into it.

I was just wondering if AS can get ahold of the Cowboy Bebop movie, having the series already why not air the movie, you know.

Hopefully, AS can also get the other anime series movies, just to tie the knot in with the series.

And yeah, I have Vampire Hunter D/Bloodlust, I don't think it needs alot of editing. :smileyhappy:

I second that. Cowboy Bebop: The Movie would be a wonderful idea, especially since you already have the original show on air. It came out dubbed last year and is an amazing movie. Basically, it's Spike, Faye, Jet, and Ed trying to find a terrorist who has a neuro-biological bomb set to go off in the middle of Downtown Mars on Halloween. There's also this girl, Electra, who kicks as much **bleep** as Spike himself. Amazing art and incredible feats of anime are abound here. Cowboy Bebop: The Movie deserves to be shown on AS. Get it, please!!!

I have a question.  Can we suggest like OVAs if there are similar to movies?

Here are some shows,

Ghost in the Shell-

In the future androids are a regular deal.  But now there is a hacker named The Puppet Master who is hacking into peoples minds to commit some unknown crime.  It is up to Kusanagi Mokoto in the secreative Section 6 to stop the Puppet Master and figure out what is really happening.

There is some nudity though none of it is really sexual.  Though good luck on editing.

Grave of the Fireflies-

Air raids threaten Seita and his sister Setsuko during the tail end of WWII.  Soon after his mother dies he and his sister are left on there own to try and survive with little help from friends and family.

No editing required.

Please remember this is a movie suggestion thread, so if you want to suggest any shows for AS, you can post that on the Action Suggestions board.

Just don't mention anything specific. The people in charge of edits do view message boards and there are several instances where shows have been re-edited or edited more strictly because of speculation and discussion on various message boards (EX: Inuyasha "Kikyo's Stolen Ashes").

I can't believe no one is suggesting Studio Ghibli's many great movies!

Spirted Away (I'm pretty sure this title is up for grabs)- If you are a fan of Japanese animation and you've never heard of this title then SHAME ON YOU... anyway, this is about a young girl named Chihiro. With her father and mother she wanders into the world of Spirits and Ghosts. There her parents are turned into pigs and she ends up having to work at a bath house of the Spirits in order to find a way to change her parents back. This movie has dozens of unforgettable charcters and the animation is something that defines an era. Directed by the legendary Hayao Miyazaki this is one incredible piece.

--There are no edits that would need to be applied to this movie

There are several Ghibli titles coming out this year (released by Buena Vista Home Entertainment (Disney))

Porco Rossa - Another triumph by Miyazaki. While older than Spirited Away this is still one of the best anime movies there are (as are all other Studio Ghibli pieces). The story follows a former Pilot turned into a pig. Of course, aside from his girth, the only thing pig-like is his face. This is a movie that will definitely grab some revenue.

--Again, no edits would need to be applied to this movie

The Cat Returns - While I'm pretty sure no one has plans to even dub this yet, keep an eye out for it. Another Studio Ghibli piece directed by the very talented Hiroyuki Morita, this is one great movie. If the will to show subs is there then this is one movie that could be capitalized upon VERY quickly. Plus, Studio Ghibli would probobly be appreciative that you would leave it in it's original Japanese. Of course, you get those Inu Yasha fans who complain about having to read...lazy b a s t a r d s... so it might turn out to not be cost effective... oh well. Anyway, the story follows the plight of a young girl who ends up saving a cat from being hit by a car. Well, it turns out the cat she saved was a prince in the feline Kingdom. So the royal procession of the feline kindgom shows up at her house one night to thank her personally. After that, everything goes crazy. The main character meets three oddball characters, a cat that (similar to Porco Rossa) looks like a man except for his head, a giant white cat that overall is pretty lazy, and a giant black crow that seems to enjoy taking verbal shots at his friend the cat. Well, shortly after she meets these characters, a mob of cats comes running and takes the girl to the kingdom of the cats where the story begins to truly unfold. All in all, this would be a pretty good title to air on Adult Swim.

--Aside from the girl screamiong F U C K!! every now and then, there are no more neccessary edits.

If I feel like it I'll post some more Miyazaki movies later.

(Contemplates)

Cowboy Bebop: the Movie is a definite suggestion for movies. The major problem to be negotiated is violence, but as that's handled with almost every TV episode, it shouldn't be impossible to handle.

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust is also a fine candidate. Interestingly, it was produced exclusively for America. Again, violence is the chief issue with this movie, though most of the violent action in the movie is not of a gory nature.

If they're willing to go old school, Lupin the 3rd: The Secret of Mamo is another possibility, again because of the tie to a series already on AS. The main strike against it is the retro look. Also check on violence and sexual innuendo.

(Trying to avoid movies held by AD Vision, Buena Vista, or Manga...)

I'd recommend a couple others, but I think they're already committed to other networks or are out of place for an AS movie slot.

Spirited Away is awesome but don't know if Disney would let AS run it. if they would it would be fantastic cause it is a beautiful movie with great characters and a great story.

i would like to see an airing of ghost in the shell on CN but it will never happen because you would have to cut out the opening scene and the end fight cuz there is no way to air them.  and its section 9, the covert ops gourp is section 9

READ OR DIE-Yomiko Readman is "The Paper" a secret underground operative for the British Library with the inredible power of complete control over paper, including the ability to make it solid as steel. She is called to duty when a book that could spell the end of the world is stolen, and she must take it back. Going with two other operatives, she attempts to take it back and save the world.

My opinion- It's a fun OVA it's like James Bond movie but with characters that have powers. This OVA has gotten great reviews.

It's an OVA but can be put as a movie it's 90 mins long and it's lincense by MANGA.

Edits- None won't require any has no nudity and hardly any blood.

Cowboy Bebop the movie: I haven't seen it but I want to eventually.

Vampire Hunter D/Bloodlust: Haven't seen this one either.

Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal: Just as long as you don't edit the entire thing.

La Blue Girl

.......just kidding.

Cowboy Bebop the Movie -obviously, about Cowboy Bebop

Char's Counterattack- You've aired this before, so,  yeah.

any Lupin the 3rd movie- Same as the series

Samurai X the Movie (NOT the uber-violent Trust and Betrayal, just THE MOVIE)-based off Rurouni Kenshin, little edits to be made (if any, again, this is not the violent Samurai X "Trust and Betrayal")

Fatal Fury -based on the popular fighting game, about Terry Bogard and gang fighting against a typical bad guy. Aired on the Sci-Fi channel, one shower scene and small sexual refrences which should not pose a problem.  A little bit of blood here and there, but doesn't pose too much of a problem

Princess Mononoke- Rated PG-13, very popular anime movie with very little violence (probably 1 or 2 edits is all that is required)

Street Fighter Alpha - Based off the Street Fighter Alpha series, very little violence, no nudity or sexual inuedos.

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust - very violent at points, probably a lot of edits would have to be made towards the end mainly, but a good movie.

You and Odin know what is going on.  But I do believe that it is Porco Rosso not Rossa.
Anyway besides the aforementioned: Knockin' On Heavens Door, Porco Rosso, Spirted Away, Spriggan, Vampire Hunter D/Bloodlust, Princess Mononoke, Akira, Ghost in the Shell. I would Say
Laputa- about an ancient flying city in the sky. No editing needed. (aka Castle in the Sky)
Nausicaa-About a girl trying to save her town from killer monsters (Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind) no editing
Metropolis- about a city in the future where robots go crazy armagenddom, Tower of Babel stuff, sweet movie. No editing
Patlabor 1&2- People controlling robots and another Tower of Babel thing. Probably some editing
Castle of Cagliostro- LUPIN the 3rd oh yeah no explanation needed. Some editing
I would like to see X and samurai  X trust and Betrayal but I believe there would be way too much editing. Thats it for now ^_^
