1) I'd love to see them air Gundam again. It's a darn shame Turn-A isn't getting a dub because they could have premiered that but Zeta hasn't aired on US television yet either so they could try that or air Gundam 00 and Unicorn.

2) AS reruns Cowboy Bebop, GitS and The BIg O over and over because they still do decently and because they love them. They are airing every anime they have right now because... they can. It's either that or give those a break and double-up other shows that probably wouldn't do as well anyway.

3) Actually Saturday's been doing a lot better in recent years with the addition of Family Guy. The Boondocks has been doing surprisingly well and that's the reason why they're not going give anime back 11PM.

4) They could stand to make more commericals for ASA but I see promos for any anime that's in premieres. Particularly on Friday nights (though Friday is usually the only night I regularly watch weekday Adult Swim). Kekkaishi, FMA: Brotherhood and the recent run of Bleach all got individual promos. I'd like to see them do a general Saturday night promo though. I don't think they've had one in a while. But it's not as if people don't know anime airs 12AM-6AM on Saturday nights. It's been that way since 2008. How can anyone in their target demographic not know that by now? Action ratings have improved in recent years simply by keeping it exactly where it is and not shaking things up too dramatically at any point.

5) They air anime on Saturday BECAUSE it's expected to get low ratings. Anime is pretty lower priority for Adult Swim. In all honestly, why should it be important to Adult Swim? They can get better ratings from their own shows and the FOX reruns. Why don't otaku understand that? It should be obvious by now. Ya'll should be more glad they even air anime at this point because they sure are not doing it for ratings and they don't have merchandising rights to those shows like they do with original series. 6 hours of anime every week and at least 2 premieres within that 6 hours is pretty generous of them at this point. Anime's proven much more successful on websites such as Hulu because most people watch anime on their computer at their own pace rather than rely on television for their fix but thankfully Adult Swim has stuck with it because they have found decent success with it while other networks have not.

6) Funny thing, back in 2004 they contemplated making the anime premiere night Thursdays and maybe if they had done that it would have stayed on Thursdays but now they wouldn't put anime on any other day because they air it on Saturday specifically because it has a dedicated fanbase that will watch it regardless of when it's on, where as the comedy viewers wouldn't tune in for the usual comedies on Saturday. It's the combiination of casual viewers tuning in for King of the Hill, Family Guy and The Boondocks and the dedicated viewers tuning in for the anime that makes Saturday work at all. I don't think any other combination could do quite as well at this point.

7) King of the Hill airs on Saturday because it gets ratings, better ratings than most shows would get at 9:30PM on a Saturday night and at 10PM it's ratings are roughly as good as the anime premieres following Bleach.  You may not care for it but it gets results and that's all that matters to Adult Swim.

DA: "But anime is more important than jobs. Who cares if workers can get money to buy anime that will lead to more dubs and it staying here? I just want my anime. Also who cares about having people work to feed their families? Anime>Everything"

I find it ironic he practically is saying that, especially the last line. His parents work to pay the bills, give him internet, and feed him.

Agreed he needs help. Even during my weeaboo state from November 2008 (When I got into this stuff.) until mid 2009 I wasn't like that.

Even though I have initially watched 3,500+ anime episodes according to MAL (60 days.), I'm not all that obsessed with this stuff. I'm just a small otaku now who likes to support the industry.

The amount of anime I watch BTW is a long story, but simply, 5 episodes a day usually except on weekends where I just watch simulcasts and catch-up episodes of One Piece.

Subbed anime viewers are the 99.

Comedy viewers are the 99.

Not exactly that ratio but it may as well be in both cases.

So if you're for the majority vs. the minority percentage then you might want to keep in mind that you're the minority in both cases.

On the topic of that actual debate...

Wall Street isn't keeping people from getting jobs big business is providing jobs. I have my job because of big business and so do a lot of other people.

OK. I haven't posted here since forever, but I've been reading the boards lately and I need to point out a few things about Occupy Wall Street.

The Occupy movement for the most part doesn't see big business as inherently evil. However, many big businesses and certainly most big financial institutions have been part of a corrupt alliance with government that was responsible for the recession and our current economic stagnation. Republican politicians sure like talking about big businesses as "job creators" but when business profits keep going up, why has unemployment stayed high? Corporations are considered people by the Supreme Court to allow them to donate secretly and excessively to political campaigns yet they don't have any of the responsibilities of actual citizens, often paying way less in taxes than the average joe despite higher rates on paper. Furthermore, the tax code gives benefits to companies outsourcing jobs when that seems backwards if we want to promote job growth in America. Really, the main points of Occupy are justified and while there's some **beast** on the fringes I don't get how anyone can say the main message is to "stop people from working" or whatever you said earlier.

I like you. We have had our heated disagreements in the past. Hopefully our sparring at least gets you thinking and perhaps a bit more careful over calling something "the stupidest **beast** I've ever heard."

I can assume that you've watched the Gundam premiers back in 2002, judging from your sign up date. Although, I never seen the original Mobile Suit on ASA, despite the fact that Wiki says so.

Gundam is Toonami material because each series requires very little editing, with the exception of some scenes. I'm assume that putting Gundam on ASA was an experiment to see how well the ratings fare out. It's pretty evident that Gundam was never on ASA again. I don't have any evidence for this claim, I base it off intuition.

Another, but more reasonable theory is: they put Gundam on ASA for filler. But that still doesn't explain why AS never aired any other series, i.e. Seed.

But honestly, it could've been the series. 0083 and 0080 were both OVAs, that put together, were less than 26 episodes. Along with the original Mobile Suit, they didn't have the popularity of Wing, or even G.

like i said, one day you will "know" all about god (and his wrath) anyway. but keep watching your animes.

I agree with you 100% (or let me say 99% becasue thats who we are and [AS] is the 1% :smileyvery-happy:). A lot of us would like to see show A, B, C, etc...., but [as] dose not own the rights to the shows we would love to see. So the only thing we can do as viewers is just say, hey [as] if you guys/gals could get the rights to this show it would be cool, but if not! Can you let us know when you get ready to air a new other show, thxs the fans.

other then that I would like to see Gunslinger Girl.

Honeslty I didn't know much about Occupy Wall Street so I shouldn't have said it was stupid, I'm just giving DA a hard time because he's always going off about how the world is so unfair and he can't get a job because of the recession and because he can't focus on both a job and his college work. These are things he wouldn't generally think about anyway but those are his excuses for why he can't buy the anime he wants to watch and has to rely on Adult Swim to air them or pirate them.

One of the biggest reasons why these protests exist is because a lot of people are being laid off, and a lot of the unemployed have a hard time finding jobs. It ranges from jobs that suits your major, or even a fast food job, it's very hard to find one now.
I've been looking for jobs these past 5 months, ever since I got laid off from my gas pumping job. It is virtually impossible to land a job now. I cannot get a job at any of the retail stores within a 15 mile radius of where I live.
You're lucky as hell to even sustain a job, and you're even more lucky that you haven't been laid off yet.

honestly [as] should try to at lest add in another day for anime like Friday/Thursday nights. They need to show series that are well known to the fans, and which werent around for like 10 + yrs, than in that case fans most pf seen it by now. Turn A Gundam is getting dubbed and Bandai Ent. annoucned it a few months ago.. Promos is what Saturday nights need with new awesome shows like Gundam, Xam'd, etc....

AS was finished with Gundam after they aired Char's Counterattack. Gundam didn't do well on AS at all, if you consider the fact that 12:30AM on a Sunday morning in 2002 wasn't an ideal time for a premier.

It's obvious that CN and AS never bothered with Gundam after Seed because the franchise's mainstream popularity decreased to a niche degree by the mid 2000's.

But I do agree, WS needs to get off their dumbasses' and make good promos again. They made minimalist bumps 10 years ago for the action block, and that managed to entice a lot of viewers in. So why can't they do it for the anime they recently acquired?

My guess: they don't care.

like i said, one day you will "know" all about god (and his wrath) anyway. but keep watching your animes.

They made promos for every anime premiere they've had recently. The DRR was not how I personally would have promoted that show but the Bleach ones are generally good and the Kekkaishi and FMA: Brotherhood promos were alright.

They should make a general ASA promo again though.

Oddly enough they talk about anime quite a lot lately on Sunday of all days. During a Sunday bump was when they announce most anime premieres such as Durarara most recently and Kekkaishi before that. They must care a bit if they're using some of their precious Sunday night bump space to let people know anime is airing on Saturday.

But they could stand to put more effort into their action promos and also giving action it's own bumps on Saturday would be a nice change because the current bumps are just messed up.

HELPeR for the TOONAMI, Mobile Suit Gundam, Dragon Ball Z, Harvey Birdman and Perfect Hair Forever boards. Feel free to ask me anything on those topics.

Or get frustrated that you don't have one. I'm in freaking high school, and I still don't have a job.:smileyindifferent:I've argued with my parents so much on getting a job it's been beaten past death.

This is their most recent one promoting the entire block IIRC. I still remember this one. They had a typo, it should have been IIRC "12 AM-6 AM". Can't remember if they gave anime that extra hour in 2009, or 2010.

No, this was back in early or mid 2009, right after they pulled ASA off for a while, then revived the block and gave it 5 hours of airtime.

When they gave the action block 12-6am, I cannot precisely remember. I think it was late 2009, or early 2010. I wish AS kept an archive of their schedules.
