Big Fight

Assume everybody noticed the show that was playing at the theatre Young Dastun and the girl went into.  Without going into spoilers, as I know some folks here probably haven't seen Season 1... will say it relates to Episode 10.  One of those tie-ins which may not be as meaningful without seeing Season 1.

Big Duo Inferno -- flies just because the original could:smileytongue:  Not much real reason for it to fly, as except for the machine guns, it pretty much lacks ranged weapons.  Again, without doing any spoilers, it just doesn't match up to the original.

Just based on Roger's memories of the past (which I think we already saw in the sequence), Big O appears to be the analog of an Army vehicle (infantry robot, ground forces). Recall that Roger remembered piloting a Big O in a squad of Big Os marching in lock step. Hence my guess is that Big Duo was an Airforce vehicle (bomber/fighter). If that were true, that's probably why it could originally fly (and why its hack job Inferno can fly).

With this interpretation, I wonder if there's a Navy version of Big in the ocean somewhere.

I'm not sure what Big Fau is though (maybe special forces?).

Big Duo clearly beats Big O any day, just that few have the experience/creativity Roger Smith has piloting megadeuses. Big O can't touch Big Duo when it flies which is clearly a strategic advantage over a majority of megadeuses. Big Duo does have a few known ranged weapons: machine gun, laser, and bombs (The latter two from Season 1). Maybe Alan Gabriel really wanted to cut/drill holes in Big O (I mean, he is that kind of uhh, thing)?

Comparing Big Duo with Big Duo Inferno.  Hmmm....

The original Big Duo featured autocannons/MG's (I think I remember those); smoke launcher(s); missle racks in upper torso/shoulder area; the 2 high-yield (possibly nuclear at one point); and the eye-lasers.

It did appear that Schwarzwold got defeated due to his own arrogance.  However, it's worth noting that he had apparently expended all of Big-Duo's serious ordnance.

Big Duo Inferno featured MG's; drills; and a single eye-laser.  Not exactly the most capable load-out for aerial combat it would seem.  Note that the shoulder missle racks have been removed; correspondingly it would seem that the high-yield missle stores were also gone.  And, like the original, BDI's armour seems to be pretty bad... even the three Union Megadei took punches better than BDI.

Gabriel's plan seems to be incapacitate at range then finish off up close.  I think if he had something more to work with than drills, he would have have used the items to weaken his opponent.  Was interesting to see the dive attack on Big-O.

LoL @ Big Fau... have you seen the whole series?  Under your analysis, it should be pretty obvious what Big-Fau is.

Union... Union... uber alles.
