Is Bonaparte supposed to be sentient?

Call me crazy, but in watching tonight's episode, the animation for Bonaparte seemed to indicate some degree of sentience.  Before Big Fau surfaced, there was kind of a "huh, what's this" response.  Once Big Fau emerged, there seemed to be an oh s**t, I'm screwed, I'm so screwed response.  Anybody else notice what I'm talking about?

Hmmm, never really noticed that. But you might be right.
