I just wish there would be a lot more people saying they would be willing to watch it that way the project could be started to make the season.

Maybe we can talk Astronomy into getting a petition started.  I know I'd be in!  I'd watch Season 3! :smileyhappy:

Wow.  I had no idea people were gunning for a season 3 like this, especially after all this time.  I was under the impression the story was pretty much finished with the conclusion of the second season.  It is very much one of those "leave it up to the audience to decide" storylines, with multiple interpretations you could take.

I enjoyed thoroughly discussing it and hashing things out, the endless debates and discussions a great deal.  That being said, what could they really do with a third season?  Do people just want it because they want their questions answered?  Because, I'm afraid if they do make a third season, our already jellied brains would be fully liquefied with even more mysteries, knowing this show's creators.  Heh.

Still, it was one of my all-time favorites going back to Toonami days... and the excitement and push for the second season was legendary.  It's process and the way it was made (partly AS funded) was quite something and is one of those type of things that will most likely never be re-created.

Still, of course I would watch a third season and be quite excited if it ever did come down the pike!

Well, it could be like Digimon Season 3, where the 1st 2 seasons were fiction. Since the last ep made it look like a TV show, w/ Angel as a Mary Sue, Season 3 could be the "REAL" Paradigm. & Dorthy Wainwright is a woman not a robot & Roger's gilfriend. And Angel is hot for Roger, hence why the REAL Dorthy is dead ine stage of Paradigm. But even there, Mary Sue Angel can't win Tomato Roger's heart, for he  loves 'R' Dorthy.

See? The show writes itself! Heh heh heh.

Well, I started a blog dedicated to getting a season 3 - though it seems to be a distant pipe dream (url=http://thebigorevolution.blogspot.com/) . In my opinion, it is all about the cash like buisness usualy is. Big-O is like an art house film - it will get critical acclaim up the butt. That doesn't neccesarily mean it is going to make money. Ratings were high for the series (Adult Swim said that the rattings were low but the fandom says the oppisite) but the DVD sales - like how Kim Manning said Jason DeMarco said - "were middling". This is not surprising since ratings in Japan was less than America and lots of reports of bootleg sets were said to have been made - injuring profit reapings. The only way I can realistically see even consideration for a season three to come back is if sales on merchandise sky rocket. So I suggest that if you want a third season, but they DVDs, get the new $200 chogokin figure, get the mangas, even import the "Paradigm Noise" novella. Plus - and I am going to start doing this - start watching Big-O when ever it comes on which as we see is comming on at 4:30. And hell, get these forums on fire. Who ever brought up the fan fic idea was nice. Atleast we still got commercial apperances, like the spot refrencing that since Japan has the live sized Gundam and Tetsuijin-28 (**BLEEP**), we should make a 1:1 Big-O. That was humorous.

Great points, although I'd love to see a 3rd season. The money just isn't there for it, or the demand.

i don't think anybody honestly knows when they lost it exactly, but i think it's been more than a year since they last aired it.... i kinda guessed they the rights were gone during the last icon submission, when they said we couldn't submit anything from season one, but season two was still ok

anyway, with all this talk of wanting a third season, i'm wondering what people would want it to be about? i mean, i thought the way season 2 ended made things pretty complete, i don't think there needs to be any more to the story
it's been a very strange trip so far... and it's not over yet

I would like the loose ends tied up. Thankfully, I know of two sites which prety much gave the answers to everything, but the series creators have said they have ideas for a third season so I want to know more about the characters who I care for so much. Plus, it would be interesting is all of the fan speculation and philosophical articles were proven wrong with a third season.

idk, i'm still of the opinion that it's been so long since the finish of the second season, trying to tack on a third, or even making a movie to explain things, it would be very difficult to contect it all together... i'm afraid the styles might clash, and if they couldn't get the same cast and production crew, it would just be weird to watch... plus i'll bet that those that had ideas to continue the storyline have long since moved on to other projects

As much as I enjoy Big O, I'm not 100% sure S3 woudl be all that helpful.

IMO would have been better to have originally run it as three seasons.  There's stuff in S2 that really gets the hurried treatment.  I.E. Behemoth goes squish in a matter of a few frames.

With these writers, you never know ...

I'd like to see an episode dedicated to Seebach and his descent into madness and his alter ego Schwarzwald.

Discarding Episode 26 is a possibility ... I mean it was absolutely crazy. I'm sure Big O enthusiasts could cope with forgetting about it. I view Episode 26 as synonymous to The Prisoner's Episode 17 (which nobody takes seriously).

Looking at the first decade of the century, it seems like we're repeating the previous century in a way (assuming 100 year periods). Although, the recession happened about 20 years too soon. But you have Costa Concordia, which sinks the same year (mod 100) as the Titanic. Of course, these two events are too little to offer a real comparison between the two centuries and there are big differences...

Maybe future seasons of Big O could be about escaping the 40 year cycles.  Of course, seeing the same thing over and over again wouldn't be any fun, unless we assumed history is chaotic and supposed that each 40 year cycle is initially perturbed (relative to the previous). This would keep episode 26 intact anyway. It would be an unusual show nonetheless.
