Tis fun.
I like the Breakfast Club idea, it would be a great way for the kids to learn more about each other. I also have another episode idea: Huey convinces Grandad to enroll him in an exchange student program. He switches places with a student from... Uganda, or Kenya I guess. South Africa even. Huey imagines this as the trip of his dreams, a pilgrimage to the motherland, where he finally has a chance to walk the same lands that his great ancestors did... and just maybe truly discover his roots.
The African student (let's call him Haqim) adjusts well to life in the USA, even though Grandad is hardly accomodating. Riley gets along with him because Haqim doesn't pester Riley with boring political speeches. He even volunteers to do all of Riley's homework and chores. Grandad loves him because he voluntarily mows the lawn and washes the car. In an crazy twist, Haqim sort of becomes like a servant to the household, although in his mind he's just being a good guest. Ruckus thinks that the Freemans traded away Huey for a houseservant. He is pleased. Jazmine even develops an interest in Haqim, because he isn't cynical and cold like Huey, and from the stories he shares of his life back home, Haqim seems exotic.
Meanwhile, life for Huey isn't as grand as he imagined it would be. The town that his host family lives in is very much westernized, much to his dismay. Despite that, Huey doesn't feel at home like he thought he would. The locals see Huey as an American outsider, and not as a distant brother. They are amused at his attempts to fit in by adopting tribal customs in an urban setting. He finds a library in town that has a genealogical database that helps him trace his roots to an small tribe that still exists out in a rural part of the country. Huey begs his host family to take him to visit. Once there, he meets the tribal chief, an incredibly old man (at least 100) who bears a slight resemblance to Grandad. The chief tells Huey of the great great great great uncle who was a gambling addict. The uncle was so proud that he bet his freedom against a white man in a game of cards. And lost. Huey is ashamed of his history and decides he's had enough with the exchange student program.
He comes back home early, and pissed off for the most part. Huey is aborred at the sight of Haqim being used as a slave to Riley and Grandad. And Jazmine swooning over Haqim?! He won't admit it, but it makes him jealous. Huey puts a stop to all the madness, and insists that Haqim return back to his country before he gets too stupid from overexposure to US culture.
