The Eric Andre Show is the logical conclusion of where late night talk shows are heading nowadays. The modern late night talk show concentrates largely on making jokes and mocking things rather than whatever it is the guest has to say - and the guest are largely actors who generally don't have much to say anyway.
Letterman has been deconstructing the talk show since he started, but Andre literally destroys the set every show, and then (at least) his desk during the show. The celebrity look-alike guests highlight how meaningless most celebrities' contributions are to these shows, beyond sitting there and looking physically attractive.
Hannibal (I think that's his name?), the sidekick, is actually a better sidekick than most, because despite his spaciness he often actually has something thought-provoking to say, whereas every other modern sidekick is an unthinking yes-man.
Overall, The Eric Andre Show serves to potently skewer the modern late night talk show, focused as they are more on comedy at any expense than any sort of illuminating discourse. And in so doing, Eric Andre has created a talk show that is overall more interesting than any of other late night talk show currently airing.
