Yesterday's visitors to the Free Hockey Chicken cause numbered 90,600, which brings our final freedom tally to 1,015,554. Hockey Chicken is finally home. In twelve days. On behalf of the entire AdultSwim.com, and especially Hockey Chicken, thank you for your support.
As I said twelve days ago, this all boiled down to an interesting experiment. How far can we push the meter with no pre-promotion if we just start yelling a simple call to action? This might have very easily flopped. Believe me, when our first day total came in (65,000) we all wondered what we had gotten ourselves into. But you guys came through. And we could not have done it without you.
I'd like to formally thank the following people:
Mike Lazzo, senior vice president for Adult Swim
Keith Crofford, vice president of production for Adult Swim
Paul Condolora, general manager of Cartoon Network New Media
Jim Samples, executive vice president and general manager of Cartoon Network Worldwide
Without their support, I never would have had the chance to try out my "master plan." And it turned into two of the most interesting weeks of my life.
Your core AdultSwim.com team:
Karen Goeckel (SwimRaven), producer for AdultSwim.com
Dave Cutts (Hockey Chicken), designer/prisoner for AdultSwim.com
Chris Pasley (SwimTorrent), associate writer for AdultSwim.com
Jim Heupel (Kawi), lead developer for Cartoon Network New Media
Robert Martin, developer for Cartoon Network New Media
Matthew Schwartz (Swimfan), senior writer for Cartoon Network New Media
Charles Lundsberg (Commander), production coordinator for Cartoon Network New Media
Kevin Barry (SwimOracle), intern
Also, thanks to all the show creators and show talent who offered their support either by agreeing to be interviewed by Hockey Chicken or simply by offering encouraging words. Without them there, we're not here.
A special thanks to Mark Lazarus, president of Turner Entertainment Group, who showed us all how the game of poker is PLAYED and who added an incredible touch of class and dignity to these proceedings simply by being here, and especially for his very generous donation to a charity of HC's choice (American Cancer Society).
Lastly, thanks to Hockey Chicken himself. For his tenacity, enthusiasm, grace under pressure and incredible loyalty to all things Adult Swim. It was a fast, fun and furious twelve days. Hell, I kinda miss him already.
