It may be the "Real" office But.

This show totally **BLEEP**.   They can't pull off the type of humor that the other office does.  Probably because of their accents lol.

Well, the argument could be made that it's the American Office that is unable to pull off the same type of humor as the original.

no, no

The UK office clearly could not live up to the humor of the version that was made after it. They should have known how the US version was going to be and copied it exactly.

duh.

The bbc version of the office is funny but not as funny as the one we have.bbc's version is what i call that dry slightlyidiotic humor. Rickey gervais who is a comic genius in his own, produce's the one over here. if you watch the bbc version and usa's version there are alot of similarities. alot of bbc's office plotlines are the same as ours, it's just that names have been changed. other then that i like both versions. it surprises me though that no one decided to turn the movie "office space" into a sitcom that movies kinda started the whole outlook into office life!

That's actually not too much of a surprise since the movie tanked at the box office on its initial release. It didn't attract its sizable cult until it was rediscovered on video.

"Office Space" had a terrible marketing campaign. That's what I blame the box office failure on.

im probably not gonna watch till i stop watching the american version, i live in chicago and they stuck the american version after the simpsons at 6:30. what ive seen of the american version is great, i assume the bbc version is good, but i dont really care about a british version of anything, i know its the original, but not to me.

yeah, sorry, but only steve carell can pull of the awkward douchebagginess that makes michael scott the comedic gem he is. he's the only actor that can make me grit my teeth in embarrassment line after line. this british guy was good in the invention of lying but he's no michael scott.

Steve Carrell is good, no doubt. But he, and the rest of the american office, miss the sexuality of the original. I've literally never been aroused watching the american Office. It's almost too funny that way. There's no time to ponder.

But Ricky Gervais wasn't trying to be Michael Scott. He was trying to be David Brent -- and succeeding brilliantly from where I'm sitting. Sure, he's a much more difficult character to like, but that's by design. Michael Scott is a lovable goofball, David Brent is an egotistical prat. This is why the British Office could only go for twelve episodes plus a special, whereas the American version is so open-ended that its already in danger of diluting its impact.

I likes them both, but I prefer the Brits, David Brent is the most uncomfortable buffoon ever, the show rules!

I like them both equally because they have different characters. David and Micheal are different characters. I see  the UK version as a very successful test run in england, and the US version which was adapted to what the US finds funny plus a few tweaks to make it even better turned into even more of a success. Ricky Gervas is a comic genius, steve carell is just a good comic actor.:smileywink::smileytongue:

Haven't seen Dad's Army in forever! My dad, a soldier, loved that show.

And i don't think they're really moping. I'd say they're outliving it.

I've honestly never liked the US Office that much, I watched the two seasons or so when it initially came on the air and then I fell out of it. I then discovered the original Office on Netflix a while back and figured "what the hell, I'll check it out."

I ended up loving it - straight up hilarious. I still catch US Office reruns to this day every once in a while and it just doesn't compare.

It has nothing to do with accents. The show is dull and completely boring. The American Office is just better. Did it ever appeal to you that Adult Swim put it on the air just for a ratings boost. I think they did, no one in their right minds could say this show is hilarious, maybe sorta funny every now and then, but not hilarious.

First of all, AS most likely put The Office on air because it's a beloved show that hasn't had much exposure in the US. You know, exactly like some of the other BBC comedies they've aired (The Boosh, Darkplace, Look Around You, etc). They're doing it because they think the shows deserve to be seen by a larger audience, which is completely true.

I for one think The Office is hilarious. You don't because you obviously don't have a taste for dry humor. And the sad part is, The Office isn't even that dry, it's pretty ridiculous most of the time. But since you can't look past the dullness portrayed in the workplace setting (which actually contributes to the humor), you can't decipher what is and is not supposed to be funny about the show. Sorry, babe.
