They've both had their moments. By and large, though, BBC Office's may not have been as forced, but it seemed like it often relied on either Ricky Gervais saying stupid, or the characters standing around for a moment while you have time to think, "I wouldn't want to be in their shoes for this uncomfortable moment!"
I've also never understood when people call it subtle. I recall giant wang props, and Brent grinning like an idiot and stating "[profanity]" as a punchline several times per episode.
I also just sort of hate the accents. I like many British accents I've heard, but there's no one in this show that isn't out to rape my ears. Could've contributed to why I didn't like any of the characters except for Brent and (sort of) the receptionist.
It's been a while since I've watched more than one or two episodes though, so I have no real idea why I'm posting. NBC's office probably should've ended ages ago, but it's still sort of mind numbing entertainment. But maybe that's what it's always been.
Animal crackers in my soup. Monkeys and rabbits loop de loop. Gosh, oh gee! Don't I have fun? Swallowing animals, one by one.
