Scratch that, looks like Opera Mini 5 has 2 new but worser bugs that make phones predate June 2009 are unlikely to be compatable with Opera Mini 5, mine is to that level, plus this new version abrubtly ereases your form after hitting the reply button, and more at risk to post flood, and worse connection is the hit and miss type, and timesout often.

Not just that, it seems Sprint is starting to hate Opera Mini since they disabled the Socket Protocol, that means time to use the Sprint Browser, if that is what they are forcing.

Whenever I read any babbling threads relating to politics or healthcare, I usually get a headache from trolls, especially ASMB Helpers like Wicked Lady.

It is starting to become annoying. Aren't helpers suppose to help or converse with tact and manners?

in general i don't think they should be expected to act any different from other user where posting is concerned.

cause like, they don't hold authoritative status over us like the mods do. if it's not to do with their particular shows and folders they're just regular users.

i think a rank with a tag on it should act a bit above being argumentative and hateful. there was one post in particular about aborted fetuses and dumpsters and a certain political affiliation that didn't sit well with me by a particular helper.

such comments should be done on alts without the helper tags, imo.

They are pretty much bound to the same rules of conduct regular

users are, maybe held to a slightly higher standard.

But that standard doesn't necessarily include not having opinions

or voicing them on the boards.

I have responded to a few reports on this particular situation, and

whenever I follow the link to the reported post, generally all I see

is somebody posting from a specific political position.

Which may be frustrating to those who hold a different political

position, but doees not in and of itself constitute "trolling".

You can't really go around and like - anybody that disagrees with you

is a "troll" automatically.  That's not really how it works in the universal

sense and it isn't what we mod for.

General rudeness can be an issue with helpers, yeah, and we

might address that with them from time to time.  But - you know,

anything hardcore like actual concrete flaming etc, feel free to

PM those post links to Humbug or any mod, or use the Report

Abuse feature.

My personal contribution to moderating this situation though has

been, the reports I have seen I didn't feel constituted anything

resembling "trolling".  Rather it was just a person of an opposing

ideology participating in the discussion. 

And while that may be frustrating, it isn't against the rules specifically.

 Why can't they debate properly with evidence and reference for their side, but they chose not to?

What can be said of that?

Helpers are poster, just like every other poster.

They aren't employees. They aren't mods. They aren't mini-mods. They're just posters like you.

They have been given special permissions for one reason only: to encouracge discussion in whatever show folder they are assigned.

And that's it.

And to be quite frank, since I can't keep my trap shut about this anymore, the anti-wickedlady crowd is causing much more tension and doing a far better job of trolling than than anything she is accused of.

And when I say "trolling" I do mean that in the exact, literal definition of the forum term.

She is being systematically harassed, followed, and report trolled. She has had shout out threads made to call her out on things that every person accusing her is actually doing themselves: posting an opinion.

I haveseen ONE post from her that could be considered a flame and that post was moderated as it would have been for any other poster.

I think it's a just a bit ridiculous. And the ppl involved need to chill out concentrate more on having fun and posting rather than singling out a specific poster to make problems for.

Which, ironically, a lot fo the ppl complaining have been warned for and even banned for in the past already.

Go figure. The saga continues with someone else. No surprises there.

Everyone that posts in those threads are **ergo** rants and babbling poli-trolls. I should know, I'm one of them! All political threads are just a giant clusterfuuuuuudge of lefty trolls battling righty trolls with their links to lefty and righty blogs! For fuuuuuudges sake, we bandy the world "troll" about waaay too much. Being an obnoxious poster is not being a troll. Being a poster with awful views about race and fetuses and healthcare and giraffes is not being a troll. As someone who posts regularly in all of the political threads, I can say that I haven't really noticed the helper in question being significantly awful...the posting pattern is pretty much the same as everyone elses. A few posts with facts and links, a few flames about the opposing side having the intelligence of a lobotomized tree stump, and then back to dropping asinine percentages! Weeee! Politics!

Everyone is supposed to converse with tact and manners, in real life....this is the **ergo** interent, I lower my expectations significantly.

God, people can be such crybabies...If I reported every time someone said something snarky and inappropriate in a political thread I'd spend all my time on the boards reporting political threads and a lot less time making jokes about weiners. Which would be sad and boring.

I've just been wayching this thing heat up for a while and there's a lot going with this situation that I see that the general population doesn't.

And like I said... can't keep quiet about it anymore.

It is just beyong screwed up to take part in a "movement" to troll another poster and then call that poster a troll.
