How many episodes do you guys do in a "session"
also define what a "session" would entale.
Like you guys get together for a month and do a bunch?
Or do you Army Reserve it and do a couple on the weekends?

Was there a "boob job jar" in the Japanese version? I'd imagine it was for something different, or at least not mentioned nearly as much. Since the only episode I remember where there was anything visual about it was in the Shin's Allowance episode, but I am curious as to what it may have been originally.

First off I really enjoy Shin-chan and I thank you for that. Second how much trouble did you have to go through with rewritting and rerecording the script from it's original japanesse version? Finally what really brought about shin-chan to america and why adult swim if you dont mind me asking?

thanks

About the episode 15 Adult Swim reference, surely it was poking a stick at [as] right?  And +1 @ Brina/Georgie "Yeah shave that ball!!" line that was hard to catch.

Maybe we're no longer entertaining them or asking good questions so they went back to working. Ha. Working, that's ironic. :smileywink:

Diane, good job with the **bleep** Brigade. I was recently dragged to an anime convention and was surprised to see plenty of people carrying around Shin flyers. Apparently one of the Brigade members had the full Shin costume on since everybody was talking about it. I didn't see them though. Then there was the giant Shin statue at the Funimation booth. I was disappointed that they failed to mention the DVD at the Funimation panel though. Luckily I already know so much about it thanks to you guys.

Working... yes... definitely.   I'll answer the questions that I can and see if Jared can be free to answer any others.

Merchandise: Yes!  Expect to see some cool stuff.  We'll have some licensee announcements at Licensing Show (Mid-June).  Also, around that time, we'll be releasing DVD specifics.  There have been a lot of rumors about what it will or will not be.  So we'll clear all of that just before AX.  I hope (hope) to have a packaging comp to display at Anime Expo.

There's also a new web site coming.  Its in the approval stage now.  But I know you'll really enjoy it when it comes.

And about the **bleep** Brigade, its the fans that make it great.  Your passion is what gives life (outside of the TV screen)  to the show.

Will the DVDs include the original Japanese dubs, for people who want to see the difference between the two?

That would be awesome; I wanna be able to compare all of them like that :smileyhappy:

That is a very good idea there, besides incase if you want to make notes on it, I guess it would be perfect enough to listen to the Japanese version, even if it is not as funny.

I would think the Japanese version would be pretty funny too, in its own right.

But yeah, I would love love love looooove for the DVDs to have the original Japanese for comparison. That would really be awesome. That would be better that any special feature I could think of.

Including the Japanese audio and subs with the real translation is a good idea, because you'll also get sales from the Shin-Chan purists who hate the AS dub since that's the only way they'll get accurate subs of the AS eps.

Japanese stuff seems unlikely to me, because of the way they mix and matched shorts from 100 Japanese episodes.

Well I also forgot one other question to ask, is there a chance that references from any shows on Williams Street can also be used in some of the episodes as a way to make it almost as funny as the shows seeing on Adult Swim?

Hey. Do you writers know who handles the bleeps for the show? You need to tell them to cool it. It's getting ridiculous. They're now bleeping words like "retard" and phrases like "packing their fudge" or "fudge-lickers" or "strawberry short-cake." Stuff like this has been said on Family Guy. Referring to one's p3nis as their d!ck is okay too. In fact, Aqua Teen built a whole episode around that joke.

Hello.

Who wrote the line in "Itsy Mitzy Spider" when Mitzy [sp?] says "Spiders..... It's like they know I hate them" and what was their inspiration for that line? I swear I've heard more than one person say that, lol.

Also has Jared written for [as] in any way outside of Shin Chan/Funimation? He seems like he would be a good part of the WS team. ( maybe a fellow board member can answer this? )

Keep up the great work! :smileyhappy:

I like this idea too. I love catching the little differences in dialogue although in this case I'm sure it would be big differences.

That line was kind of a triple entendre, playing on swimming pool rules (the source of much frustration to me as a youth), the nighttime block on Cartoon Network (the source of much amusement and income to me as an adult) and "adult" meaning naughty (the source of... well...).  But yes, [as] was definitely in mind while writing that line.  Not "poking a stick" necessarily, just a winking reference.

Sorry we writers have been MIA.  We appreciate all of you watching and posting.  Keep asking questions / fanning our egos (but mostly asking questions).  A lot of the unanswered questions are best left to Jared (he knows far more than I do - except about "strawberry shortcakes" - I think he had to look that up).  Maybe I can lure him out of his Howard Hughes-esque hermitage long enough to respond.

Seriously!  Strawberry Shortcake, the beloved 80s icon, would be SHOCKED to learn that her name is too hot for TV.

I don't know what the censors could possibly think we meant by that line.

Well congratulations, Yans... you have shamed us back onto the web.  :smileywink:

The truth is I have been in a time capsule buried in my backyard the last couple weeks.  i go there to recharge and think about new ways we can say "poop" in a sentence.

First, with ep. 17 airing a few hours ago, I want to tip my hat to Joel for the "stakeout of the closet" vignette.   Mostly because I did learn so much about imaginatively grotesque sex acts.   On that shortcake line Joel had about ten other "colorful" alts, and a note in the margins that said something like "these are all real terms, you can look up their definitions at [such and such website]."  I happened to be up at the studio while they were recording this part, and Zach was like, "yeah, by the way, the note was unnecessary."   Apparently Zach and Joel would be a really good team playing "Trivial Pursuit: Illegal Things That Would Make Your Mom Vomit Edition."

Now, a question!

SickAndWretched wrote:

I went back and looked, and the translation didn't include a translation for the banner.  But the signboard outside originally said "Ai Suotome – Setagaya’s Darling Pianist -- Piano Recital Hall."    "Clap, or we will find you" seemed like the obvious choice.

I'll look through what I've missed to answer more questions.   So keep asking!
