it has recently come to my attention that there is some backlash or resentment against this tried and true staple?  What on earth is wrong with you guys?

Seriously, it exemplifies all the meminess of a really memey meme.  It's obscure and unforced, to the point where most people using have no idea how it even arose.  and it rose to prominence as a meme should, through the will of the posters rather than being repeated ad nauseum until it became a joke.  It's odd, unique to this board, and obviously long-lasting as well.  in fact it's probably the oldest currently still used.  And, occasionally, it's funny.  I mean, sometimes.  Every so often.

The wannameme Calidaves and Shoe Hand Clappers of this world need to shut up and listen to pozerking?

I clap for the shoe hands, if you read the thread, wasn't initially set up to be a meme. It just became one under a few powerful posters' influence.

The No Four proclamation is probably the best meme. I agree. I guess a few people visit these boards a bit too much and it becomes so beaten to death that they don't like it anymore.

Visit less often and it will surely be fresh.

Unforced? Actually, it's very forced a lot of the time. And yes, it started by having one man repeat it ad nauseum. Mostly, it's way overused. Remember how old "Because you touch yourself at night" got? It's not cool to just emulate everyone else. If it were, everyone would be cool. You have to work in your own direction to earn a high place on the bell curve of cool, like I have.

Someone said Pozerking invented it after he made a list of four items that were numbered 1 2 3 5. When someone pointed it out, he defended himself by saying there was no four. That's good enough for me. But it was his joke. And it's an in-joke. That's something that must be emphasized: it's an in-joke. If you're not in on the joke, it's not funny. But when I ask people to explain where the joke came from, most of them have no clue. They're just copying other people. And they're doing it to death. They're just retelling this old, haggard in-joke that they aren't in on in the first place. And the joke isn't fresh anymore. In fact, it's bloody fucking stale. It's moldy. It's a dead parrot. Let it go.

Yeah? What about all the things that are rectangular? Houses, city blocks, TV and movie screens, repetitions of a theme in songs, ten trillion other things you interact with every day of your life. If you think about it, I think you will realize why they are four-sided: four just plain works. Four is universal. God is the number 4. You mess with 4, you mess with God.
