I'm not sure if the trailer was even made by T&E themselves. But yeah, Will Ferrell doesn't fit in with T&E that well, I wish they'd have left him out of it. Naturally, they have to show all of their star power in the trailer though, he might not have too big a role. But Will Forte is freakin' perfect for T&E in my opinion, you just have to forget about all the bad SNL sketches, the guy's got skill.
But yes, like most T&E fans, I want the duo to have as much screentime as possible, they could pretty much just sit in a room and talk the entire time and still manage to make things funny.

I was somewhat excited about the movie, until the trailer came out, now I'm only marginally excited. Perhaps the trailer doesn't do the movie justice. I hated the fact that John C. Reilly, Will Ferrel, and Will Forte might have large roles in the movie. I've always thought Ferrrell was hugely overrated, and just don't like his on screen persona and material. Reilly obviously played a huge role in the first few seasons, I really only found him funny in season 1, then it got old, and the first Brule season I found grating. Is it just me or has he gotten 5x uglier in the last decade or so, he looks really creepy and gross now, and it doesn't help that I find his personality a bit too creepy as well. Both him and Ferrell have these tiny eyes, ok I'm going off topic...
Maybe they feel in debt to Ferrell for financing their project and giving them publicity. It's really hard for me to imagine his artistic sensibilities would have got him a role at all even, if he wasn't financing the project, and they felt confident that their movie would sell. There are dozens of other comedians, actors, and personalities that fit the Tim and Eric mold better in my opinion. As for Forte, the Lazy Horse sketch is obviously classic, but everything else he did for them I found to be really really unfunny, especially in their christian tv show parody thing they did.
Whatever, I'm seeing the movie in theaters, there's bound to be gems in the movie, hope the plot ends up funny as well. It'll also be interesting to get a sense of what other T&E fans are like in real life, as noone I know IRL likes their show. Most of my friends hate it, or are scared of it or something.
I agree with what has been said regarding both Wills in relation to Tim and Eric. Will Forte just clicks with Tim and Eric, as if he was their long lost triplet or cool older cousin. He's easily recognizable as a staple of SNL, but when he's doing something with Tim and Eric, whether it's portraying the world's foremost gingerbread house maker on Nite Live, or a divorced man going through tough times on Morning Prayer with Skott and Behr, he just brings it. I think he's so good you forget all of his other past projects. With Will Ferrel, you still know he's Will Ferrell.
I think I like Will Ferrel more than Will Forte in non-Tim and Eric related projects, though. Maybe he's too busy, but maybe Tim and Eric felt Will Ferrell didn't suit the show well, so he only got in on it for one episode in the last season.
I forget what it was for, but Will Ferrell was accepting some award on PBS or something. His speech was top notch quality.
The trailer is great, what are you talking about. Thinking about Tim and Eric running in the desert/night streetz and "I honor you, I honor our Friendship, and I honor our love" during the day is a challenge for me because there is no way to keep from laughing.
I wish there was a theater close to me but right now there isn't, and that makes me really sad. I wish I could see it on the big screen first, as it was meant to be as foreseen by prophets, but I will buy it on VOD on the 28th. Depending on how the movie is received intially, more locations may be added across the map. I'm just afraid it might not do well in the box office.
Also, I can't wait for someone, hopefully some dad, unfamiliar with Tim and Eric to stumble into the theater. Being a fly on the wall for that would be cool.
