Has anybody heard about The Comedy? It's another movie premiering at Sundance with Tim and Eric starring. I couldn't find much info about it, but it kind of looks like a dramedy - not sure how to feel about it. Tim and Eric as real people? I don't know if I could take them seriously...

T&E will definately be able to get away with the type of material they couldn't do TV with this movie (possibly a faked stadium performance of "Let's All do the Tim & Eric Dance" where they sport humongous te$ticles)

I was somewhat excited about the movie, until the trailer came out, now I'm only marginally excited.  Perhaps the trailer doesn't do the movie justice.   I hated the fact that John C. Reilly, Will Ferrel, and Will Forte might have large roles in the movie.   I've always thought Ferrrell was hugely overrated, and just don't like his on screen persona and material.  Reilly obviously played a huge role in the first few seasons, I really only found him funny in season 1,  then it got old, and the first Brule season I found grating.   Is it just me or has he gotten 5x uglier in the last decade or so, he looks really creepy and gross now, and it doesn't help that I find his personality a bit too creepy as well.  Both him and Ferrell have these tiny eyes, ok I'm going off topic...

Maybe they feel in debt to Ferrell for financing their project and giving them publicity. It's really hard for me to imagine his artistic sensibilities would have got him a role at all even, if he wasn't financing the project, and they felt confident that their movie would sell.  There are dozens of other comedians, actors, and personalities that fit the Tim and Eric mold better in my opinion.  As for Forte, the Lazy Horse sketch is obviously classic, but everything else he did for them I found to be really really unfunny, especially in their christian tv show parody thing they did.

Whatever, I'm seeing the movie in theaters, there's bound to be gems in the movie, hope the plot ends up funny as well.  It'll also be interesting to get a sense of what other T&E fans are like in real life, as noone I know IRL likes their show.  Most of my friends hate it, or are scared of it or something.

I'm not sure if the trailer was even made by T&E themselves. But yeah, Will Ferrell doesn't fit in with T&E that well, I wish they'd have left him out of it. Naturally, they have to show all of their star power in the trailer though, he might not have too big a role. But Will Forte is freakin' perfect for T&E in my opinion, you just have to forget about all the bad SNL sketches, the guy's got skill.

But yes, like most T&E fans, I want the duo to have as much screentime as possible, they could pretty much just sit in a room and talk the entire time and still manage to make things funny.

I agree with what has been said regarding both Wills in relation to Tim and Eric.  Will Forte just clicks with Tim and Eric, as if he was their long lost triplet or cool older cousin.  He's easily recognizable as a staple of SNL, but when he's  doing something with Tim and Eric, whether it's portraying the world's foremost gingerbread house maker on Nite Live, or a divorced man going through tough times on Morning Prayer with Skott and Behr, he just brings it.  I think he's so good you forget all of his other past projects.  With Will Ferrel, you still know he's Will Ferrell.

I think I like Will Ferrel more than Will Forte in non-Tim and Eric related projects, though.  Maybe he's too busy, but maybe Tim and Eric felt Will Ferrell didn't suit the show well, so he only got in on it for one episode in the last season.

I forget what it was for, but Will Ferrell was accepting some award on PBS or something.  His speech was top notch quality.

The trailer is great, what are you talking about.  Thinking about Tim and Eric running in the desert/night streetz and "I honor you, I honor our Friendship, and I honor our love" during the day is a challenge for me because there is no way to keep from laughing.

I wish there was a theater close to me but right now there isn't, and that makes me really sad.  I wish I could see it on the big screen first, as it was meant to be as foreseen by prophets, but I will buy it on VOD on the 28th.   Depending on how the movie is received intially, more locations may be added across the map.  I'm just afraid it might not do well in the box office.  :smileysad:

Also, I can't wait for someone, hopefully some dad, unfamiliar with Tim and Eric to stumble into the theater.  Being a fly on the wall for that would be cool.

The film is out! Go buy it. If you can't see it in a theatre, you can buy it on demand. It's supposedly very good.

For $9.99, I'll definitely rent this later on today on Time Warner On Demand. I don't think I was going to see it at a movie theater so this is the next best solution. It's deinitely going to be a drinking night for me.

movie review

I got really excited once I realized I had nothing to do late at night last night, and B$M was going on iTunes.  Wanting to support T&E I payed for it.  I didn't expect to be particularly angry for paying if it was bad, since they've provided me with countless hours of free hilariousness already.   Relative to their usual output, it was not good in my opinion.  I even watched it 2 times hoping it would grow on me, but it hardly did.  It obviously wasn't unwatchable for me 'cause i did watch it 2 times since it came out last night. :smileytongue:.  Basically, the movie felt like a random mish-mash of every television thing they've done, the main portion of the movie feeling like their Funny or Die specials.  It felt stretched in different directions.  Tim and Eric played Tim and Eric.  One really unique thing about the movie was that it was done in a T&E are fish out of water way, Tim and Eric meets the real world way, in most parts of the movie.  This really bugged me.  I lost count of the number of cuts to faces of cameos grunting at Tim and Eric's silliness.  Was this a polite nod to those who think T&E are too crazy and/or was it like a meta apology for being over the top?  It felt like both those things, which are pretty lame and shows a lack of confidence.  Although I would have a lack of confidence too if the selling point  of my movie was having SNL movie stars in it...

The movie was able to hold my attention for the entire length of the film, which was impressive because I have a small attention span.  I do remember zoning out during a fight between Tim and Eric, that felt like it was directly pulled from the T&E book episode.  So much material was re-hashed, including the David Wain-esque Eric-in-love storyline.    On that note, why put Forte-Ferrel in the movie over some of the Stella guys?  T&E borrow so much from Stella in general, and their sensibilities in my opinion are more similar than the aforementioned SNL stars.  They did have the courtesy of putting Wain in their episode with that Eric in love theme before.

Nothing particularly funny about the plot.  I thought the mall component of it could be interesting, until I found out it was going to be a here's a freak show tour of shops thing.  Ugh, it made Tim and Eric seem gimmicky.  Apart from the re-hashed T&E material, and the bad gimmicky plot, there was apparently quite a bit of movie parody in the movie.  So here is where I think others may enjoy the film much more than I.  I hardly ever watch films, I'm a total idiot when it comes to movies.  Reading other people's reactions to the movie, it seems this may be the first thing Tim and Eric has done (apart from Just 3 Boyz) where I lacked knowledge and context for the thing to be funny to me.  Come to think of it, this movie was just as funny as their Just 3 Boyz special to me, where I could sense the humor, but it didn't hit me, and there may have been quite a bit of subtle parody that went over my head.   So I give 6/10 to this movie.  The beginning and the ending of the movie had me smiling, and the middle chunk was at least amusing enough to hold my attention.  Movie buffs may like this film more?

Just 3 Boyz was hysterical to me, that gives me high hopes for the movie. But I will take note to not blindly psyche myself up for it, for that can only lead to disappointment.

I laughed until I cried. And then I just straight up cried. Because it was so beautiful. Thank you on demand, I hope it comes to a theatre near me so I can see it again in March.

They did it. So proud of my boys. I hope they go on tour again soon. I will never forget being the very front of the pit during the Crimbus Spectacular. One of the best nights of my life.

Is that.... it? The closest one to me is two hours away. Anyone have any idea if there will be any more?

Since that page hasn't changed in about 2-3 weeks... no, I don't believe anymore theaters will play it for the initial run (I have a feeling this will get the treatment Rocky Horror or The Room gets at 'cool' 'cinemas' around the country (read: California)).

I am 3-5 hours away from the two closest (and arguably reasonable for road trip worthy) theaters showing it.

Well, crap. 2 hours is an easy enough road trip, but I don't know if anyone will want to go with me, and I don't really want to go by myself. :smileysad:

Might have to go the video on demand route after all.

Welp, I saw the movie. A couple parts were fairly hysterical, but unfortunately it wasn't nearly as laugh-inducing as most of T&E's stuff. They come up with so many good ideas, but I think their craziness was at times inhibited by the need for things to make sense in the context of the movie. They did have some great moments and great quotes, but it didn't make me laugh as much as I'd hoped.

I think this proves a theory of mine about the group being best in small doses, with longer plots and the like emphasizing their weaknesses as opposed to their strengths.

Still, it should air on Adult Swim, some Saturday.

This Saturday night, it's a heavyweight collision! Newly crowned UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior Dos Santos, fresh off of his 1st round knockout victory over Cain Velasquez on Fox, returns to the Octagon to battle submission specialist Frank Mir in an all heavyweight card! Cain attempts to bounce back from his devastating loss against Brazilian wrecking machine Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva! Plus, Jason "Mayhem" Miller returns on the FX Prelim show to battle CB Dolloway! The action starts 8pm on FX and 10pm on PPV! I mean, what the hell else would you watch?
