How often shows are requested according to this...

[ Edited ]

I'm going to try to go to forums and websites and try to figure out what shows are wanted and what shows are not. Starting with the Toonami suggestion thread, I am going to over the summer, tally up suggestions for future shows and put them into one big poll. When I finish looking at the Toonami forums, this one, Toonzone, Funimation, and Anime News Network, I will post the results on YouTube (and keep adding on to those numbers during the summer). Today, I just wasted an afternoon on this and looked through the suggestion thread for shows mentioned (and to a much lesser extend, the forum) and this is what I got (I will be updating this thread whenever possible). Skip down to the bottom of this post if you simply want to see the Top 10 or use Ctrl + F if you want to know how many people want a certain show on here:

Note that if a show is underlined, bolded, and italic, the show is currently running on Toonami or is confirmed so requests will freeze. Once the show is removed, it'll be eligible for this poll again, but it's restarted at zero.

Bolded: Shows that I would want to see on Toonami.
Italic: Shows that have been recently requested. They will stay unless the person who requested it before no longer wants to see it on Toonami.

*: Note that New Anime are shows that have never appeared on Toonami, regardless of age.
**: The 1963 Astro Boy series did appear on Adult Swim, but I decided to lump it in with the 1980 series for good measure since people aren't usually specific on what they want.

Votes were taken from the following:

-Adult Swim Toonami Forum (here)

- Toon Zone, Toonami Faithful

- Neotoonami

- Funimation

- Anime News Network

- PerezHilton
- Toonami Aftermath

- That Guy With The Glasses

- YouTube

- Crunchyroll

- Anime-Forums

- Smashboards

- Nintendo Life

- GameFAQs

- Reddit

More sites will be added as I looked through the Internet.

Any requests that said something along the lines of "maybe this show or that show" was not counted.

Also, I did not cover movies. Sorry to those who wanted to see what movies were being requested. Requests that were not specific (outside of old Astro Boy) were not counted. Some OVAs like Mobile Suit Gundam Team 08th and the Tenchi Muyo OVAs were included, but many weren't.

Gundam has a ton of series, so I divided those requests into arch. Mobile Suit Gundam requests goes under Universal Century Gundam, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED under Cosmic Era, etc. Arch that has only one show show up under their own title. I know this is going to be confusing, so if you want to know how many requests an show got, I'll look at the arch and can tell you.

I am hoping that this thread can serve as an info thread for what people want to see and hopefully if the poll becomes big enough, Jason DeMarco/Mike Lazzo/William Street will take notice. It'd be nice to have some knowledge of what's a popular  choice for being on Toonami instead of just saying "this show is popular choice because I saw some people request it ".

But please whatever you do, don't think that because a show has X number of vote that it's inevitably going to be on Toonami/will never make it. There are other factors to consider, popularity is just one of them.

Fan of Toonami, Yu Yu Hakusho, Dragon Ball, Super Smash Bros, An American Tail, Mega Man and especially Astro Boy!
Support Toonami's return and watch it every weekend so that we can get more exciting new shows!
For all fans of Toonami: http://toonamifaithful.com/forums/index.php

tl;dr

kudos for tallying all that up.

(Part of ) My Dragon Ball figure collection

Marriage is a sacred sacrament between a man, a woman, and Lord Kami.

I support traditional marriage, not these liberal politically correct Saiyan-Human marriages. It's sick. What's to stop men from marrying shape-shifting animals? Or Androids? It's a slippery slope. And the King of the World (who still hasn't released his birth certificate) is a socialist trying to shove this crap down our throats. Just the other day I saw a show where a boy turned into a giant monkey! Clearly the evolutionists at work, denying our holy Lord who came from Namek.

wow, i'm pretty surprised The Slayers got 4 votes, seeing as how the series lost all relevancy after the dud that was Revolution/Evolution-R.

Great work on the list!

Also, I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this show before, but Angel Beats is one to put under the New Anime section. It at least has my vote :smileyhappy: .

EDIT: Oh, I see you already put it in, just mispelled as "Angle Beats!". I only checked the list using Ctrl-F.

Shows I personally want on Toonami:

Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing, Bodacious Space Pirates, Initial D, Angel Beats, Baka and Test, Robotech, Macross Plus, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Yu Yu Hakusho, Revolutionary Girl Utena

I think that has something to do with the Slayer franchise receive quite a few anime and as such, probably has some dedicated fans left. A similar case could be applied towards Ranma 1/2, which has by now lost all relevance, yet still managed to earn a few votes.

Quite a few things surprised me about this as well, but I'll mention them later when I get more results.

Thanks for the compliments! Those help encourages me to continue and to figure out what other people want to see.

One thing that please me about this list is the huge variety in suggestions. People aren't just focusing on 15-20 well-known shows and leaving the rest in the dust, they're spreading all over the place for what they want. Meaning that a show, even an obscure one, can be picked, and it's bound to make someone's dream come true.

Which is exactly why I loved the addition of Casshern Sins. It was completely unexpected, yet the first two episodes have been satisfying. It also shows that you should never give up hope on a show you want to see return to Toonami, even if the odds seem near impossible.

Fixed. Yeah, it's hard to keep up with names, especially when you're dealing with tallying requests for over 100 shows.

Oh and the Ctrl+F button, that is a great time saver; especially when you're updating.

So this is all just things You  found?

If that is the case it will most likely not be accurate.

Young justice alone has more then 5 people who want it on this site alone, not to mention Ive seen multiplt people talk about adding it too toonami on other sites, then theres the tiger and bunny which gets a moderate amount of request acorss sites, but the one I see most is proably Steins Gate( I still dont know what that is) or Naruto

Other ones I see alot

Highschool of the dead

Inuyasha final act

One piece

Eden of the east

Eureka seven ao

But of course the classics get more request then Any of these

I also see lots of hate for each of these shows(with a few getting none some how)

As for panty and stocking,I see a rather small amount crying for that, but its just they cry so friggen much >:smileyindifferent:

-_- Your opinion's.They dont matter.

To be fair, this doesn't cover what the entire forum wants to just, mostly just the main suggestion thread. As time goes on, it will continue to reflect more and more what people want to see.

Awesome job man! You need to tweet about this to DeMarco when it's completed!

One thing that I don't get tho, is out of ALL that anime, Jyu-oh-Sei is not listed!:smileymad: Have you went through the whole suggestions thread yet? I'm sure I mentioned it there.

Also, can this thread count as a nomination thread for the tallying?  Because if so, Jyu-oh-Sei has a vote.

Another correction: Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon are the same show.

Shows I personally want on Toonami:

Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing, Bodacious Space Pirates, Initial D, Angel Beats, Baka and Test, Robotech, Macross Plus, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Yu Yu Hakusho, Revolutionary Girl Utena

I will make sure to inform James DeMarco about this once it's complete.

Jyu-Oh-Sei is mentioned, but it's grouped with Planet of the Beast King, which is the literal English translation.

Also, this thread being counted as a nomination thread; if there is a show you want to see on Toonami and it isn't mentioned here, you can add it up there. However, if I have already seen you request a series somewhere else, I will not count it again.

And Animan1, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon is the live action TV show that was requested in the non-anime thread. I'll put it in the other section and let people know it's live action just in case.

Actually they're not. "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon" is a Japanese live-action show though, so it shouldn't be on the list either way.

Don't ask me why I know that.

Oh, my bad. I wasn't taking the live action series into account. Was getting Pretty Solider and Pretty Guardian mixed up.

I'm actually halfway through the live action series at the moment, so it makes my mistake even worse :smileytongue: .

Removed Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon live action TV show due to be well, live action.

Also, I checked out the Toonami thread on Smashboards (under the Media section and it's called "Toonami 5/26" or something like that) and got some votes here. Will be checking out other places after work tomorrow.

Just went looking through the Panty & Stocking Meets Garterbelt's campaign thread in both the Toon Zone and this forum's version and that has given it a considerable jump. Just one vote and it will turn out to be the #1 most wanted show on the block according to my observation so far (of course with other sites not touched). I will continue looking here and as for Toon Zone, I will look at the Toonami Anticipation thread to see if there are any requests for shows there.

Perhaps I should open up a thread for show requests there...

It took me an entire afternoon to initially post this. If this has any positive impact on what shows gets on Toonami, then it's worth it.
