That's not true, it's perfectly okay if it picks up old series that never made it to AS nor Toonami.
Especially if the old series aren't very well known.

Inuyasha- I have never been a fan of it but it is super old school and has an amazing fanbase behind it so i guess its alright...
Naruto- I don't want a repeat of how Toonami died. if they do pick this up I don't want them to dump ALL of their money into this ONE show.
DBZ- 4Kids/ CW & Nicktoons has this sooo it isn't gonna comeback for a while..
One Piece- This is the only one i agree with.
Gundam- This would be just PERFECT fit for toonami.

Glad to see we're finally hearing it from the horse mouth on popular shows. Can't really say I'm surprised, but I was really hoping for more variety here.
I'm not surprised those are the most-requested shows; each has a pretty large "mainstream" following. That said, I really don't want to see any of them on Toonami. The main reason being that they're already pretty popular, and IMO that's not what Toonami typically did in its original run.
Toonami MADE shows popular; it helped MAKE the mainstream what it is. I hope that's what they continue to do with their new show selection: take anime that's awesome but relatively unknown and show it to the wider American audience and SET the trend instead of following it.

The thing is, Toonami made DBZ and Naruto mainstream in the first place, while Inuyasha and One Piece are only popular "by anime standards," which is to say for the most part only people who are already anime fans like them. "The wider American audience" has probably never heard of One Piece AT BEST. At worst they've already heard of it and pre-judged it as a kiddie show based on the depressingly bad 4kids dub.

That's fair. I remember watching it when it aired on Toonami back in the mid-00's (don't remember if it was the 4kids dub or not) and didn't take to it then, and that was for reasons other than the dub. Mainly, the show was just visually ridiculous-looking; it looked like a show for 13-16-year-olds, distractingly so. That really made it difficult for me to enjoy/get into the show.
Who knows, maybe if Toonami shows One Piece, then we'll see how popular it can get with the wider audience, though I think neither success nor failure is guaranteed.

4kids changing all the guns into cork pistols and water guns (and in one EXTREMELY ridiculous case an awkward-looking hammergun) probably didn't help with this.
If you saw it on Toonami at all, it was most likely the 4kids dub. Funimation picked it up briefly after 4kids dropped the show but One Piece was dropped from Toonami entirely a few months after that.

I don't consider One Piece's run on Toonami a "fair chance" for the show due to it being the 4kids dub, for the reasons listed above (among others). That dub was horrendous even by 4kids standards.

I saw both dubs on Toonami.

Yeah, the Funi dub aired for a few months but they had to stay consistent with the 4kids dub while they were dubbing it for TV. Fortunately they've already gone back and redone all those episodes.

Thank goodness. At least they don't have to pay for the dubbing on those episodes anymore, so I guess that cuts down on it already being insanely expensive to license.

Quick question.
Who owns the rights to Hajime no Ippo/Fighting Spirit? Because I think Toonami could use a show that is not only good, but can bring in the boxing fans after watching the ppv matches on Saturday.
Yeah, my logic is mad flawless. Mooninite flawless, even...
Geneon, but they're long gone.
So, no one at the moment? I guess?
The DVDs are probably out of print by now.

I don't think One Piece would be horrible it never ran on [as] or Toonami and I've heard some pretty good things from peoples who's opinions I trust around here. I've been meaning to watch it, and if it was on Toonami it would give me a reason to(otherwise I don't got the time I am a media fiend in some regards rather it's video games, comedy, action, anime, music, news etc so my free time usually gets taken up between that, occasionally trying to find love, writing, and posting here).

I had to choose among those four I would get DBZ and Inuyasha Final Act, though that's me. Naruto needs a break from american fans anime wise at least. One Piece it too #### long and still going and its less than 50 chapters away to the 700's and counting. You thought Bleach was long well One Piece is even longer.
Seriously thats the reality of it. Though I will say I hope the person who approves the anime has changed because the person that typically did it prior to Toonami's revival brought us Kekkaishi and Durarara. (kekkaishi got better as it went but Durarara was a mess production wise but that's me)
Personally I want GUNDAM!!!!! Toonami airing an uncut gundam (within legal parameters) would kick major ass!!
I also think Rurouni Kenshin uncut would rock too.

One Piece would be pretty awesome to me.
It's the only long running series I'm able to watch and actually stay interested (exluding some of the Skypeia Arc).
And If it gets picked, Funi will be prompted to keep on dubbing from where they stopped.
Anyone know why they DID stop by the way?

None of these choices really surprise me, after all, they are all expensive long-running Shonens. but if I had to give an opinion...
InuYasha: This one is probably the least likely to be successful on the new Toonami, what with the endless reruns (and filler) on ASA. (would probably be good for 1:30 though so they could get people exited for Final Act)
Naruto Shippuden: Despite my opinion of Naruto, I wouldn't mind seeing it on the block so long as they don't repeat the mistake they made with the original Naruto on the original Toonami. (and they air it at an opportune time and not a year or two after Disney XD loses the rights.)
Dragonball Z: It would be a pleasure to see this on Toonami again, but hopefully it won't share the fate of DBZ "Uncut." (if that happens, restrict it to 1:30)
One Piece: If this happens, I will be a very happy man. And the ratings will probably be happy too. Too bad it's probably too expensive right now.
But that's just my 2 cents.

Blade of the Immortal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-ZkxVV6sWU
But a cult following= good ratings....So why wouldn't they want to choose a show that as a huge fanbase?

Only thing on this list that I'd want to watch is Tiger and Bunny.
