lol I'm not actually a sub fan, I'm mainly in the middle and only truly like Kai in English over all 99% of the time. The 1% being that Tiffany Vollmer isn't Bulma which I cannot accept, ever.
I have my issues with the Japanese dub and sub lovers as well. I have gotten some hate from sub fans for not praising Nozawa like she's a God or something when it comes her doing the entire male side of Goku's family. Then theres my belief that Dameon Clarke is a better Cell than Norio Wakamoto and always will be. My obvious love of Tiffany Vollmer Bulma over all. My hate of sub fans who write SSJ or Saiyajin and refuse to use correct dub names like f**king morons.
I'm much more of a subjective fan than one who deals in complete black and white absolutes of "dubs bad, subs good".

I support traditional marriage, not these liberal politically correct Saiyan-Human marriages. It's sick. What's to stop men from marrying shape-shifting animals? Or Androids? It's a slippery slope. And the King of the World (who still hasn't released his birth certificate) is a socialist trying to shove this crap down our throats. Just the other day I saw a show where a boy turned into a giant monkey! Clearly the evolutionists at work, denying our holy Lord who came from Namek.

I see...I prefer Vollmer and Clarke too and don't care for Nozawa.

I definitely agree, but to be fair I was used to him in the dub before so I'm biased. Still, I can't imagine Stephanie Nadolny voicing adult Goku....outside of GT.
All this talk is actually kinda making me want to watch the series again. Haven't actively watched any DBZ in over a year despite owning the series on DVD. I did watch the Blue Arc in Dragonball a few months ago though...

I dislike her voice most as Bardock. He isn't a manchild like Goku, he's a warrior and just like King Vegeta was voiced by someone other than Ryo Horikawa Bardock should have gotten the same treatment.
I don't care if Toriryama hand picked her she has no business voicing all the males even the adults of Goku's family.
Which DVD sets do you own, the orange ones or the Dragon Boxes?

I used to own the singles and before then VHS tapes, and still own the 2 disc sets for Dragonball, but sadly DBZ is the orange bricks. I simply couldn't afford the Dragon Boxes. I've owned the entire series for at least a few years now and have watched every episode at least 4 times. I love the dub music for DBZ. It just feels too weird to hear King Piccolo music during later parts of the story in the japanese. Plus Cell and Super Buu's themes by Bruce Faulconer are amazing.

That ####. I mainly have old bootleg RAWs, terrible VHS subs and a few uncut English tapes left. I gave most of my English tapes and DVDs to kids at the school my little sister goes to, I'm kind of a sucker for little DB fans.
@Buu8800: Yeah the Dragon Boxes are hella expensive and since I mainly collect DBZ figures the DVDs usually slip my mind. What I want most is for Funi to continue DBZ in HD either that or Dragon Boxes for GT with the Dragon Ball Radar remote.

Funny thing, they said "over 9,000" in the edited-for-Nicktoons dub but "over 8,000" in the uncut dub.

My overall thoughts on ImmaKrillin survey: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZt79rzjDEc
It comes after my thoughts on Week Three ratings, hopefully I don't come off at too ungrateful near the end of my thoughts on the survey.
And I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought Goku had a much better actor from Funimation than in Japan. Mozzawa voice acting Goku makes me cringe.

Frieza is pretty easily the biggest thing the Kai dub improves upon. I love Linda Young in many of her roles but she was miscast and given some cringe-worthy dialogue in the original dub. I actually think Schemmel as Goku during that period may have been worse though. I still don't know why they didn't have him re-dub those episodes when they went back and redubbed everything from Raditz through to Goku beating Recoome.

Freeza's whole fight with Goku sounds like he's trying to get into bed with him. Even if they didn't have correct translations to jump from feared ruthless galactic ruler to gender confused flirtatious alien is just too strange. Also the "Frieza" spelling makes him even more confusing.
With the dubbing I assume it was because they only felt that the episodes Ocean Group did needed to be dubbed not the whole thing, which it desperately needs.

I find the Freeza spelling weirder.
On your second point Vegeta and Frieza re-dubbed some lines from the later post Ocean episodes, why not Goku?
Oh and Frieza's Kai dub voice did a hell of a job. He's still my 3rd favorite of the "Big 3" DBZ Villains though.

Well given the katakana "Frieza" makes no sense, it would be like spelling "Goku" as "Gioku" yet still pronouncing it "Goku", it serves no purpose. I defend Funi a lot on its dub names but their spelling is so stupid sometimes, like Vegito.
They probubly saw no need but if I met Schemmel or Sabat again I'll ask if they can even remember that far back.
Never been a fan of Freeza but I do like how authentically evil he was compared to Cell and Buu.

I can see your point, but when you're using Frieza for over a decade Freeza just seems weird. Authentically evil perhaps, but the other 2 are still more enjoyable. I mean Buu, if you haven't figured it out yet, is where my name on here comes from.

I don't really prefer any of the 3 villains over another, don't know why.
My favorite villain will always be Vegeta though, my favorite hero is also Vegeta. /fangirl logic

I was so thrilled with Buu's portrayal when he first appeared. I love how Toriyama pulled out such a goofy, hilarious monster. The twist was reminiscent of earlier Dragon Ball humor. But at the same time Buu could be very menacing. His Super form was a blast too, and the absorption forms had such villainous personalities, yet could still be funny. Kid Buu was pure chaos but even he was funny. So awesome....
BTW, you're a girl?! I guess I just assume most on here are males...

I think Toriyama works much better when he sticks to humor and fun like in Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump. Wish he had done more strange carefree villains like Buu.
Also yes, sometimes my username doesn't make it obvious since many don't get the reference. It's the name of the female "lead" of Final Fantasy XII.

lol, it's cool. It's my favorite Final Fantasy after IX so like my opinions on Dragon Ball I'm used to no one really getting what the hell I'm talking about.
