Why not get more short animes? If they keep getting short animes, then if you don't like one, then it's not going to stick around forever like Bleach is. And most long series turn to crap at some point anyway.

So you don't like Bleach. I don't like Bleach either. Wanna know why? Because it lasts for fricken ever. The same thing happened with Inuyasha. It was really popular until we all realized it had 50 million episodes. I think FMA had just the right amount of episodes, but stuff like Drrr!!!, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, etc had a good number of eps too.

I hear ya about Bebop and GITS 2nd Gig. Both are great shows but they have been run into the ground. Ofcourse with Toonami drawing in large viewership numbers some people may be experiencing them for the first time.
I think 26 to 52 episode seinens are great compliments to long running shonens. That was Toonami's model back in the golden age. They built the block up around DBZ, which like Bleach drew in the ratings, and surrounded it with shorter shows like Outlaw Star, Gundam Wing and Ruroni Kenshin.
I imagine they will pick up another long running series in the future. However, I like the idea of a revolving door of seinens. It allows us to experience more.
I hope you stick around. Toonami needs all the support it can get.

I agree.
I hope the block is successful to the point where it can expand, providing 1 or 2 long running shonens and a number of shorter seinens. Perhaps we'll see that happen if this experiement succeeds.

Good point. I would love to see Toonami expand beyond a once a week thing in the future.

I think AS Toonami will stick with short anime when Bleach finishes. As long as it's a one-night only block, there's no point in running a 100+ episode show that will only air once a week. Back in the day before there was online streaming, it was easy to get away with since the only way American viewers could SEE the show was to watch it on TV. But now, if they like a show enough, they'll just watch it online.
The thing is, much as most of us here don't like Bleach, it's still the highest rated show they have by a pretty good margin. People like the long runners, they get invested in them and want to keep tuning in.
I don't think having one or maaaaaaaybe two long-runners to kick off the block and pull in viewers (some of whom will hopefully stay for at least one or two shows afterwards) is a bad thing. But then I personally don't hate long-runners just because they're long-runners, I just don't like Bleach specifically very much. Other than one or two shows, though, I agree Toonami should stick to relatively short to mid-length (roughly FMA-length) shows and rotate them out more frequently.

Because of all of the complaining about the longer animes.
Really, some anime fans are an ungrateful, whiny bunch. They bash long animes for stretching out the story and then they bash short animes for being overplayed. Its like you can never win with those whiny little nerdos.

Thats a great idea. Maybe if the block is successful enough, we can work at least 1 more (3 total) long shonen in there for good measure. I personally like both types of anime because with short seinens you don't have to worry about a stretched out story that gets old and with long shonens you don't have to worry about getting bored (Because of the sheer fun of the show) or the show becoming overplayed.

Mainly because you will be stuck watching them for a while, and you don't want to cut them short because that will anger the fanbase.
There should only be 1 to 2 shows that have 100+ shows on Toonami at the most. The rest should be short so we can keep getting something fresh and new.

Some people come to watch a long series like Bleach.
Some people come back to watch a short series like Durarara.
Some people come back to watch a classic like Cowboy Bebop.
Some come to watch a new series like CasshernSins or Deadman Wonderland.
And some people (like me) come back just to see TOM and weekly updates.
Its a win-win situation no matter what.

Yes, Toonami is fool proof.
I think that rather than rely on one single type of anime, its good to have both types of anime on the block (Long shonen and short senien) with a fair balanced amout of both shows. That way, fans of both types are pleased.

The best animes are usually the short OVA's and TV series.
Look at animes like Bleach have long draw out the storylines. That have many unnecessary fights with forgetable villiens. And many filler episodes (some are good) that don't contribute to the main story.
Good OVA's for Toonami to Play
Tenchi Muyo OVA 1, Tenchi Muyo Ryo-ohki! OVA (AS play both uncut)
Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Girls http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LauULRDkzMc
Shigurui http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RL033M5y6T4
Samurai 7 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mX5QJ8-b8E8

FMAB is 64 episodes, Kekkaishi was 52, Code Geass was 52, Blood+ was 52, FMA was 52, Shin Chan and Case Closed were both long running series but they didn't run for long.
So what are you asking for exactly more shows that are longer than 52 episodes? Because those pose a significant risk and consider the possibility that another long show may end up being disappointing to you and then you have both Bleach and that other show to sit through or ignore to get to the anime you want to watch.
Short shows are good for a one night a week timeslot and they work fine as long as they keep them coming and don't take long breaks.
If they spend their budget on even 1 more long show on top of Bleach they'd probably have nothing left for other shows.
