Trigun Badlands Rumble

Is worth it!  It was everything I would expected from a Trigun movie.  There was plenty of action and comedy, and the look of the movie was awesome!  There was alot of different VA's, but some even sounded better than the originals (Milly).  This was one of the best anime movies I've seen in a while.

Too bad it was all filler.

I knew it would be a filler when the announced it as an "anime original".

They should have done something that would progress the story a little. The action looked nice during the whole 5 minutes, but it didn't make up for the problem that nothing in the movie mattered. And being a filler, we immediately know nothing really bad will happen to any of the main cast. If it's an actual part of the main story, the conflict would be heightened.

I didn't dislike the movie. It was alright. Just would have preferred an actual continuation. Throwing out a feature length filler would have been cool, and maybe even worked better when the show had just come up, but it just feels like it's too later to be making anime-only pieces of the franchise and people really just want to rest of the manga animated now.

Are you new to anime movies?

90%+ of anime movies from a larger series are filler.

Hell i cant think of any movie from a series that is canon, that isnt a recap or retelling movie.

First FMA movie: Wasn't as bad as people made it out to be.

Eden of the East: Actually liked them.

End of Evangelion: Pretty popular.

Disappearence of Haruhi: Finally, Haruhi without Haruhi. Liked it better than the rest of the franchise.

I thought the majority of people wanted it to be canon when it was announced. I was pretty cool with the idea of Vash vs. Wolfwood, but that ended up taking a whopping 5 seconds of the movie. I don't think they even fought. There was virtually no Vash vs. Wolfwood at all, and that was the primary promotion. Which really makes me wish it had been a legit continuation even more.

FMA Movie was filler.

Eden of the east was made for a lead up for movies.

EoE was just a retelling for the most part.

The series ending was implying what happened if i remember right.

Haruhi movie havent seen it yet... but its a movie that likes Haruhi over Yuki.

So its dead to me.

Over half of the original series was technical filler. It was canon in the version of the story. It, you know, actually ended stuff. Unlike the series finale.

Wut?

Alternate retellings are different from recaps. Or does that mean Rebuid is just a recap despite huge differences.... particularly in the area pf being good.

Disappearence was the only part of the franchise that wasn;t excessively overhyped. And, due to the lack of Haruhi, also the part I actually enjoyed. It's canon, though.

You didnt say rebuild.

EoE is alternate retelling.

Rebuild is one of the 10% that is canon.

But Disappearance is still dead to me.

EoE is still considered canon.

But really, just because there aren't many canon movies, it doesn't mean Trigun's movie wouldn't have been better as a conan story. I just think it was a little too late for a filler story. People want more story animated, and duing a non-conan movie is kinda a low blow.It doesn't make it a bad movie, just not as interesting as it could have been.

I felt that Badlands Rumble was very similar to the first half of the original Trigun anime. Which I think makes it more entertaining. The first half is so ridiculous and fun and silly and then in the second half, we lose a lot of that in favor of moving the plot along. The plot's important (and well written and wroth watching multiple times and owning, etc.), but the first half is definitely more enjoyable.

And there's the nostalgia factor of seeing all of the characters you know and love again, but in a low-tension situation. Did anybody not go **beast** when they played the opening notes of H.T. at the climax?

(And hey, maybe the reason they did the non-canon filler movie after all this time is that they're testing the waters for a Trigun anime reboot. Probably not, but a girl can hope, right?)

I disagree.  I thought the show was mediocre until the Rem episode.

I enjoyed it as a nice journey back to Gunsmoke; I just wish we could have even more of Trigun like a direct adaptation of the manga.

And I admit, Milly's voice here was a better fit than from the series.

I actually did like them a lot. Glad Johnny Yong Bosch is still Vash, but it did take a few minutes to adjust to Meryl, Milly, and Wolfwood. I thought Meryl sounded nearly exactly the same except maybe a little less stressed out. Wolfwood had a cooler voice that really didn't sound as sarcastic as the one in the show.

But as I or someone else said and I agreed, Milly was a marked improvement. Looking back at the show, her voice is almost too silly and naive. The new actress scaled it back to a more modest sense of contentment.

And like I said earlier, they could try a direct adaptation of the manga. I've heard it gets way more complicated and obtuse as it goes along (including a terrible origin for Wolfwood), but it's worth a shot.

I actually just finished TriGun yesterday.. decided to watch the movie today. I have to say, it was pretty good--couple points though:

  • The quality of the movie was absolutely beautiful, probably because I bought it in BluRay.
  • Although the picture was beautiful, there were a few plot points I disliked because it didn't exactly relate to the ending of the anime.
    Spoiler
I felt kind of weird seeing wolfwood alive again, and not actually dead. (My first indication the plot would not be that important in relation to the overall story of Vash)
  • Vash was great because he related to the first few episodes: which is where I preferred the series. I actually thought the anime -- when I first was watching it -- would go a completely different, John-Wayne-Type way.
  • I kept being reminded of the robber in the beginning of the anime -- his name was like Neon or something -- whenever I saw Gasback. It felt kind of re-used.

Otherwise, the plot was alright. Are there anymore parts to the series other than the 26-episodes and the movie? I felt it had so much more to explore..
