Why does everyone get a bad taste when something "goes mainstream" (i.e. becomes popular because it is good).  Because they as a fan are not part of teh secret club?

The only thing that gets me is when a show changes as a result for the worse... maybe its the pressure... maybe its trying to water down what the content is to make it easier to swallow for the new viewers.

If something is good, people are going to find out about it.

Don't ask me. I've seen people on here complain about Adult Swim merchandise showing up in Hot Topic as if that somehow taints the shows themselves. Me, I'd rather people see a Venture Bros. skull T-shirt in a mall, wonder what it's from and maybe seek out the show on Adult Swim -- or the DVD when it comes out.

I think for most people it isn't really a problem with whether a show goes mainstream or not...it's more like the track record of shows that have gotten tremendously popular.  Shows sometimes lose their integrity when they become really popular.  Writers may change aspects of the show to appeal to a new, broader fanbase.  Often creators/writers can get greedy and sacrifice the quality of the product for whatever is cheapest and will make them the most money.  The things that we once loved about a show might be completely changed to cater to a new set of people and advertisers.  I can't speak for everyone, but that's just what I've gathered from talking to people about these sorts of things.  It's more about a fear that show will lose its honesty than a fear that it won't be "cool" and "cult" anymore.

Yeah, I've already downloaded all of those but it isn't the same. Call me a moron but I still think the sound quality on CDs is a lot better than that of MP3s. I don't know what it is but the MP3's sound a little more distant to me....it's hard to explain.

People don't like when things go mainstream because it goes to the producers head and they don't seem to do quite as good of a job, it goes to their ego and they believe that anything they make is gold. It can be a piece of crap but since their name is on it people will watch it. And that's partially true. There are a lot of people who if told something is good or popular can convince themselves to like it. And it doesn't feel like the bond between creator and viewer is there anymore. When they aren't as popular they're willing to talk to their fans because they enjoy it, when they get more popular they don't have the time and they also stop caring to a certain extent. But Lola had a better perspective on it than me.

Well it is too bad there are not many here who like LJ, besides more twards Xanga, but anyway I usually like to comment if it is any thing that is rather interesting, besdies I know MC Chris has an LJ(discontinued it), as well as the ADV and Funimation voice actors have an LJ account too, but besides the point at least it is another thing I am looking to really give the heads up on it.

Well(sorry to go a bit off topic), but I also am on LJ for a few other groups, specifically for the largest Inuyasha LJ group on that site, specifically i am one of the users who reports to them among stuff like Adult Swim related Information for my part, and if there were changes to the lineup, of course they took it well, but only like 3 users were very outraged on it, but I told them that is how Adult Swim works and we just have to accept the way things are.

Well i just recently found out this user now and apparently I have been on LJ much longer then some of you guys, I joined back in 2001, and that my friends is a long time that I had that account, besides I have now see Voice actors from Funimation and ADV now have LJ accounts, but that is a diffrent story, lets just hope that we can make sure we can keep Venture Brothers going here.
