Xavier and Censorship

With what Xavier gets away with by not saying or showing directly, it'd be less offensive to out right say 'fuuuuuudge' on the show.

It exemplifies the arbitrary nature of censorship.

Xavier enables a rapist child in "Vibracaust," but he can never utter that shorthand term for consensual sex.

Yeah Xavier seems to be mocking censorship in a way. Big networks get fines for live shows having cursing slipups or nipslips

Does the FCC even watch Xavier?

No, it doesn't.

The FCC doesn't cover cable networks, but they still have Standards & Practices departments. They allegedly set their own standards, which means channels will censor themselves in order to avoid controversy. Xavier's late night status allows for it to get away with racier content. I guess there's no standard saying a show can't feature pregnant strippers

If this show ever enters into the mainstream public's consciousness, I imagine it would be more heavily censored.

So the point is to make the dialouge so dense, and the main character so odd, in order to scare the advertisers away from actually watching and comprehending what they are paying for?

I like that a word in my initial post was censored.

Think about the final episode of season 2 when Xavier finds his brain in the lobotomy room, he puts his brain on a mirror and sniffs it up like a line of coke. I love this show for quick gags like that.

Or

When he is talking about shick kickers and says that he will let the shick kickers kick the shick out of him, haha.

I don't care if it's censored or not. The show is horrible in both design and humor. Get rid of it.

But if you get rid of it, you will never get it. Or the free grinder. And that would be a tragedy. Because grinders are tasty.

That's an excellent point.

We need to think about the grinders.

All of us would - all of us except Westpark. Clearly grinders are well designed, and grinders are an integral part of Xavier: Renegade Angel, therefor Xavier: Renegade Angel is well designed. That's just simple logic, man.

you want to see how Xavier gets around censorship... listen to him say "can't". I dont know if they say it that way just because it sounds more funny or if they are intentionally trying to skirt the policies regarding what "words" can and cannot be "said", or what "things" can or cannot be "thought" or "scare quoted". In addition, what about that episode where everyone Xavier touches turns into a grinder. That would be such a gift and a curse. And then his mom turns him into soup... hilarious.

I imagine both reasons were motivation.  Envelope pushing and punditry are two of the shows favorite wells, so I doubt an instance like this one is exclusive to one or the other.
